Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club

Established in 2000, the Edinburgh Jazz ‘n Jive Club brings you live Jazz music on most Friday evenings during the year.

The Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club brings you live Jazz music on most Friday evenings of the year for listening and dancing Foxtrot, Lindy Hop, Jive, Balboa, Collegiate Shag and more Our gigs take place at Heriot's Rugby Club, in Edinburgh's Goldenacre neighbourbood. Apart from superb live music, we've got a wooden dancefloor, bar, raffle and great atmosphere. The Jazz music at the Club great for listening and suitable for dancing, including Ballroom (Foxtrot, Quickstep, Jive), Blues (Ballrooming), Jazz (Charleston, One-Step, Jazz Dance, Two-Step), and Swing (Balboa, Collegiate Shag, Laminu, Lindy Hop, Slow Balboa). We're a Member Club open to non-members! The venue is accessible (step-free access, accessible toilet). Entry for children and accompanying carers is free. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

This Friday, 11 September, the New Phoenix Jazz Band, led by bassist Jeremy Forde and with Jazz vocalist Christine Adams, is back at the Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club!

Formed in 2011, the band focuses on Jazz of the first half of the 20th century, exploring the rich tradition of the vibrant, emotive and refined music of the period. Expect a fantastic mix of Dixieland / New Orleans and swinging Jazz standards, all perfectly performed for both dancing and listening.

Come along if you like dancing a mix of different Swing dances as well as Foxtrot, Quickstep and more. The music will be great for Lindy, Balboa, Collegiate S**g, Slow Balboa, Ballroomin and more.

This Friday, 4th September, it's time for another Lindy Hop Heaven. We've got the well-loved Joys of Swing playing music. The band presents a cornucopia of popular Swing and Jazz standards.

The music will be particularly suitable for dancing Lindy Hop, Jive and Foxtrot - like all of our monthly events in the Lindy Hop Heaven series.

IN OTHER NEWS: Tickets for our Anniversary Party, on 18th September with Tom Gordon's Kansas City 7, are now available for both members and non-members.

The quintet will present a cornucopia of popular Swing and Jazz standards. Expect a splendid choice of tunes, tempos and genres and great performances from outstanding musicians!

The music will be particularly suitable for dancing Lindy Hop, Jive and Foxtrot - like all of our monthly events in the Lindy Hop Heaven series.

This Friday, 28st August, the Shades of Dave Pell Octet will play at the Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club! The band plays swinging Jazz music from the first half of the 20th century, as originally performed by Dave Pell and his top-notch musicians from the post-war era on the west coast of the USA.

The octet's music is great for listening and for dancing Lindy Hop, Jive and Foxtrot. A swinging time guaranteed!

This Friday, 21st August, the amazing New Town Stompers are returning to the Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club!

The sextet will present uplifting Rags, Trad and Old-Time Jazz and Blues from the 1900s to the 1930s. Expect music with a focus on early Jazz which is more suited for Swing dance styles like Balboa and Collegiate S**g, for Blues, Two-Step, Foxtrot and the likes. That said, there will also be some good tunes in the mix for dancing Lindy Hop.

The NEW TOWN STOMPERS are returning to the Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club this Friday, 21 August!

The sextet will present uplifting Rags, Trad and Old-Time Jazz and Blues from the 1900s to the 1930s. Amongst deep dives into the treasure trove of masterpieces, the ensemble also deliver old favourites as well as original tunes done with solid reverence to the Hot Roots and Pop music that became known as Jazz.

Expect music with a focus on early Jazz which is more suited for Swing dance styles like Balboa and Collegiate S**g, for Blues, Two-Step, Foxtrot and the likes. That said, there will also be some good tunes in the mix for dancing Lindy Hop.

Expect an evening packed with danceable Jazz tunes from a sextet of outstanding musicians. Good Swing music to listen to and to dance Foxtrot, Jive, Lindy Hop, Balboa, Collegiate S**g and more.

And tickets for the Anniversary Party, on 18 September with Tom Gordon's Kansas City 7, will be available for members as of this Friday.
