Harling Recreation Bowls Club

Harling Recreation Bowls Club Lawn Bowls and short mat bowls. New members welcome. We provide facilities and support to players at all levels, from beginners to the more experienced.

We are a friendly club situated in the village of East Harling offering people of all ages and gender a warm and relaxed atmosphere to play bowls as well as to join in a variety of social occasions. There is a short mat indoor bowls programme in the clubhouse throughout the year and in the summer outdoors bowls are played on the green. There are a number of competitions played within the club, ope

n to members. All can enter and present a challenge as well as entertainment. For the more competitive bowler there are opportunities to compete in Club competitions and County Leagues. The smooth running of the club is in the hands of volunteer members who look after general maintenance, bar duties and catering, with an elected Committee to manage the business side of the club. Saturday evenings are for social bowling, called roll ups, when the game is simply played for fun and is a great time to improve your skills. On days when no competitions are scheduled the indoor rinks and, in the summer, the green are available for members to practice individually or with other members.

11.4.26: What a great turn out to the opening of our green. 😁
We welcomed several new members who got their first taste of lawn bowls.
After a delightful afternoon of bowls, the customary beers and banter commenced in the clubhouse. All in all, a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
πŸŽ₯ Big shout out to our camera gals for taking some brilliant footage and in particular to main camera gal Mo. Thanks Mo πŸ€—
Here's to a fabulous season of lawn bowls. See you on the green. 😎🍻

On Saturday, 3rd January 2026, while many of us were snug and warm indoors as the first snowflakes fell, Mike and his team were out there getting our green ready for the outdoor season. We truly appreciate the hard work and dedication that Mike and his merry crew put in to keep the green in top-notch condition.

A big shoutout to June for capturing the action as well as being part of the work team.

We salute you all. 🫑

5.11.25: What an absolutely enjoyable evening of live music by the up-and-coming local band, The Shards! Leading the performance on guitar and vocals was the incredibly talented 16-year-old Tom Arbin who kicked the evening off singing solo.
Carl Sturgess delivered a fantastic performance on drums, while Steve Kelly showcased his skills on the bass guitar. Although the footage doesn't fully capture Tom's vocal brilliance, you can follow him on Spotify.
