Yesterday, Sunday 4th Oct, saw the annual visit of the O'Reilly clan for the annual ENGLAND vs EIRE darts match. Our Irish friends in their usual good form, supremely confident of a 4th victory on the spin. The Tricolour was once again being paraded around the bar; before a dart had been thrown!

The atmosphere in the bar was jovial, but the steely focus of the English darters was evident from the beginning. The usual format of a two innings 'cricket' match leaves no hiding place for those whose nerve fails them.

The English were immediately on the front foot, taking wickets at regular intervals, whilst the Irish were not scoring as heavily as they have in recent years. Tensions began to run high in the away camp, and star player Michael 'Mikey' O'Reilly was copping plenty of stick from his own camp for a sub-par display. Was this a sign that Captain Megan was losing her own dressing room?

This bickering galvanised the English as they took a healthy lead at the innings break. The anticipated Irish comeback never really materialised and the English powered away in the second innings. They achieved their target with 5 wickets remaining, the winning runs coming from The Mailman Rupe (he always delivers!)

Congrats the the victorious English arrowsmiths on a rampant victory. Well played Skipper Stu Bell and his team, consisting of Lisa, Alice, uncle Geoff, Chris B, Rupe and Chris S.

2027 already looks like it will be a mighty encounter.
