The Gateway to the New Forest, Brewing bold, handcrafted beers, hosting unforgettable events, and proudly taking the pint from field to glass. The Brewery Tap opened in May 2017, and serves a selection of handcrafted beers, all unfined on principle. Production is concentrating on three main brews and one experimental, and take their names from local history. The Brewery is a short scenic walk from Christchurch centre, over the two River Avon bridges, and at the rear of the Emporium in Bridge Street. When the Emporium is closed (after 5pm) access is via the back entrance in Stoney Lane, but the Emporium car park can still be used. Take aways can be purchased in 2 & 4 pint containers. Our Goals at Drop the Anchor Brewery will be to build a reputation for handcrafted care, time-honored methodology, and the finest natural ingredients from around the world, as well as housing a friendly tap house/ Brew bar

Drop the Anchor Brewery handcrafts its beers in small 30-40 cask batches under close personal attention. The latest brewing equipment and technologies are seamlessly combined with traditional brewing methods to ensure consistently excellent taste, whether packaged in bottles or Cask. But the main goal is to provide and drink more beer!

Our second Barn Dance of the year is coming to Drop the Anchor Brewery this Sunday 20th September, and after the brilliant fun we had last time, we cannot wait to do it all over again!

Leading the dancing once again are the fantastic Murphy’s Lore Ceilidh Band. You know what that means: foot-stomping tunes, plenty of laughter, great food, flowing beer and a barn full of people having an incredible time.

Murphy’s Lore hail from Bournemouth and Dorset and bring a high-energy mix of traditional Irish, English and Scottish folk music, alongside their own original tunes.

And don’t worry if you haven’t got a clue what you’re doing! That’s half the fun. The band will guide you through the dances, so grab a partner, grab your friends, and prepare for organised chaos on the dance floor.

Whether you’re a seasoned ceilidh dancer or have two left feet, everyone is welcome.

📅 Sunday 20th September 2026
🍺 Gates open from 1pm for drinking, eating and warming up those dancing legs
💃 Dancing begins at 4pm
🎟 Just £5 on the gate or tickets available online
