Sorry for the waffle but what a day. Massive thank you to everyone who came along yesterday and made Bank Holiday Blues feel truly magical. It was everything we love about these days at Drop the Anchor Brewery... great music, great people, and moments I’ll remember for a long time.
There were so many highlights, but first I want to say a huge thank you to the entire DTA team for somehow keeping me out of the loop and pulling together such an incredible day. I genuinely can’t thank you all enough. Big love to every one of you.
A massive shout to DJ Beerwax and the Backroom Selectors for an absolutely brilliant blues set that set the tone perfectly.
Steamer... wow. What a set. Foot-tapping, soul-stirring tales from Chicago, Texas and Canvey Island. We cannot wait to welcome you back.
Hugh Budden and the Blue Chords alongside Joe Curtis absolutely blew me away. What talent, what a band. Seeing Joe and Hugh joined by the legendary Bob Young on harmonica was a genuinely magical moment, and yes... it brought a tear to my eye.
To my girls, Marlie and Isla, for getting up and singing one of my favourite Fleetwood Mac songs... proud doesn’t even cover it.
Huge thanks to Origin Fire Food and the team for feeding the masses so brilliantly, as always.
And to Backroom Productions, Jo and Jamie, thank you again for everything you do. You’re absolute stars and such a huge part of making these events what they are.
Steve on the mixing desk, amazing as always, such a calming person.
And finally, to my Rosie... thank you for everything, and for making this a 50th birthday I’ll never forget.
What a way to celebrate. Same time next year?
