You may have seen us sharing content from the VAT is The Problem campaign, and we wanted to explain why.
Hospitality businesses currently pay 20% VAT on food and drink sales, while many of our European neighbours benefit from reduced rates that help keep prices affordable and businesses thriving.
For independent pubs like us, rising costs continue to put pressure on everything from energy bills and food prices to staffing costs. A reduction in VAT would allow hospitality businesses to invest more in their teams, their venues and the communities they serve.
Pubs are more than just places to eat and drink. They’re places where friendships are built, celebrations happen and communities come together.
We’re proud to support the VAT is The Problem campaign and help raise awareness of the challenges facing our industry.
