End of May quiz night was another success. Even though numbers were slightly down due to holidays etc we still managed 30 which was great especially with so many regulars away.
Dave Bloomfield produced another great quiz involving 6 different rounds and a kids TV picture round - quite a few nostalgic conversations could be heard whilst discussing this round!! 😂
It was very close again this month but the “Who let the dogs out?” team finished on top - well done 👏👏
As usual we moved onto the “Higher and Lower” card game with £250 prize on offer.
Up stepped the first lucky player,a visitor, John from Hartlepool to try to take home the cash but unfortunately it wasn’t to be his night, and he returned empty handed.
This meant the charity would gain another £25 again this month to their fund so every cloud etc 😎
We went again, this time for £100 and a man of few words who just raced through as he wants to get it done asap,Darren Feeley, stepped up, showed the way and successfully won the £100.
As a pilot, we changed the format slightly and incorporated the “Heads and Tails” game into the mix - basically everyone played and went higher or lower on a card - if you were correct, you remained standing 😎
It didn’t really start off too well when after a few cards, everyone went higher but the card was lower so no winner!!🙈😂
Let’s go again! 🙄
Tom won £20 this time- (which he donated back at the end of the evening - thank you Tom)
It was going well so we went again for £10 and Andy, having learnt from the first game, went lower when everyone else went higher and it paid off 👍😂
Tried one more time but finished off with a pair so unfortunately no winner!🙈
The feedback on this was good so we will continue with this format - the big prize will still be on offer but rather than continue one person at a time, we will offer it out as a group game so this way everyone is kept involved.
Only stipulation is you need to have a ticket for the main game to compete/qualify for the group one 😎
Thanks again to Dave for the questions/quiz mastering and to Hannah for sorting out all the food and also doing the bar.
We would all like to thank all our regulars who attend every month, it is not really about the winning, although it’s good, it’s about having a good social night with hopefully a few laughs thrown in.
The bingo is running on the first and third Friday of every month, with Donna calling the numbers, telling ante dotes plus selling fabulous home made cakes - magic!!
Please don’t forget the Cottesmore village fete on the 20 June during the day and in the evening, 80’s disco with DJ Mick.
It’s £4 a ticket which includes a free drink or £6 on the door - if you don’t have a great night I will be very surprised.
See posters for details 😎
Please come along and support the day/evening.
We are planning other events in July/August so please keep an eye out for details.
Thanks again 💚
