We're super excited to have Oisín Hassan live at at the Jolly Gardeners on Tuesday 2nd June.

Taking inspiration from song-writing heroes like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen & Neil Young and the Folk/Americana, Soul & Blues music he grew up listening to, Oisín crafts music with an undeniably classic and rootsy feel, and puts his own spin on some of our favourite songs.

Oisin has build up a steady reputation for himself on the original music circuit through supporting other artists and bands such as Robert Vincent, Simon Fowler and Oscar Harrison (Ocean Colour Scene), Rachel Croft, Stephen Fearing, Todd Day Wait, Golden Shoals.. to launching his Debut E.P and headlining his own shows.

2025 saw the release of his debut E.P. Be Free, Like A Bird’ produced by Award-Winning Songwriter Robert Vincent and recorded by ex Parr Street Studios Engineer Jon Withnall (The Coral, Coldplay, I am Kloot).

A quick thank you to everyone who came down to our first folk session on Tuesday. We thought it was superb. The musicians were absolutely great, but it’s also about the vibe - you can’t beat live, un-amplified, well-played instruments and voices to move you (and a full pub helps!). As it went so well, we’ll be booking more like this. Watch this space.

Folk night at The Jolly Gardeners.
An old friend of ours is part of a traditional folk “not a band”, The Nightjars.
They’ll be here on Tuesday 12th May from 7.30 ish and it should be a great night. Good fun, all acoustic, great vibes.
Here’s what Simon said when I asked him:

“It is a folk session. Traditional folk, folkesque and folky pop and rock numbers. If we get the full complement of regulars (not a guarantee with a folk session!) double bass, violin, cajon, bass guitar/12 string/guitar, couple more 6stringers and several vocalists. Description wise, warm, familiar, foot tapping, soul stirring. We started out doing protest songs but are way broader now.”

We reckon it sounds great. If you like it, hopefully it could become a regular thing. Would that be good?
