๐ Volunteers at Jacks โ Meet Will Davey ๐
When people think of Jacks Centre, they often think of indoor bowls.
What many don't see is the incredible team of volunteers working behind the scenes who help make our club such a friendly, welcoming and special place to be.
This week we'd like to introduce one of them โ Will Davey.
Will first volunteered around three years ago after answering a request for help with some painting. Since then, he has become one of those people who is always happy to lend a hand, whether that's helping Pete clean the rinks, joining gardening work parties, putting up the Christmas decorations or simply stepping in whenever an extra pair of hands is needed.
But for Will, volunteering isn't really about painting, cleaning or gardening.
It's about being part of a community.
He loves the friendly atmosphere at Jacks, where there's always someone to chat to, share a laugh with and enjoy a cup of tea after a game. It's these friendships that keep so many of us coming back.
One of his favourite memories is winning the Winter Triples competition, although we're sure the laughs along the way are just as memorable.
Away from the club, Will enjoys playing golf and spending time in his garden. He also shared something incredibly inspiring. Having experienced skin cancer, he continues to approach life with positivity and a great sense of humour.
When asked what he'd say to anyone thinking about volunteering, his answer was simple:
"Do it. Volunteering helps you meet and get to know other members."
And that's exactly what Jacks is all about.
We're so much more than a bowls club. We're a place where friendships are made, people look out for one another and everyone can play a part in making our community even stronger.
Thank you, Will, for everything you do for Jacks. It really is appreciated by us all. ๐
