LARNE & DISTRICT SNOOKER LEAGUE

Defending Champions QE2 A travelled to The Point in Larne and came away with a 3-2 victory in a match that went to the deciding frame. Winners on the night for QE2 were Gavin Baker (39), Captain Zak Sheldon (32 & 41) and Chris Carson.

Gary Edgars QE2 B entertained Sunnylands outfit Greenbank B and they also edged it in another 3-2 win. After losing the first frame QE2 took the next two but the Greenbank lads responded to level the match at 2-2. It was the home team who took the honours courtesy of a stunning 128 clearance from ex Northern Ireland Champion Jonny Nelson. Other winners on the night for QE2 were Matt Couser and Edgar himself. And a big well done to 10 year old Jacob McNally who played tonight for Greenbank after making his League debut last week, great to see and under the guidance of dad Curtis he can go far.

And it was a fine hat trick of 3-2 wins for QE2 based teams as Glenn Gibney's Castle overcame Latharna at home. Gibney and Karl Black had registered for Castle and with the match standing at 2-2 it was Richard Bradley who brought home the bacon winning the fifth and final frame of the night.

BELFAST & DISTRICT SNOOKER LEAGUE

It was first versus second tonight Thursday 10th September in the Belfast & District League as QE2 B entertained the leaders Ballygomartin B.

The result finished 2-2 with the Belfast team probably the happier as they trailed 2-1 with one match to play.

Winners on the night for QE2 were the Father and Son duo of Chris and Jack Carson, Chris winning 2-0 and Jack 2-1. Highest break of the night was QE2's Jim Jackson with a 42.

Nexxt week QE2 A hosts Shorts whilst QE2 B travel to Premier in Glengormley.

LARNE & DISTRICT SNOOKER LEAGUE

The Larne & District Snooker League 2026/2027 Season kicked off tonight Wednesday 9th September and all three QE2 Teams were in action.

Zak Sheldon's QE2 A played Castle in a QE2 derby match and it was Glenn Gibney's Castle who took the honours winning 3-2 on the night. Castle led 2-0 through Stephen McLaughlin and Ricky Bradley but Allan Cheshire and Maryjo McCourt ensured the match would go to a deciding frame winning the next two. The decider was a tight afair but it went the way of Castle's Karl Black to give his team the 3-2 win.

Gary Edgar's QE2 B went 1-0 down away to Latharna but that seemed to inspire them as they took the next four frames for a 4-1 win. Jonny Nelson registered a 39 and 35 on the way to winning his frame. Also on the scorecard were Jude Dalrymple, Matt Couser and Gary Edgar himself.

QE2 'A' travelled to Belfast tonight Tuesday 8th September to play this weeks League match against Ballygomartin 'A'. It turned out to be a successful journey for Zak Sheldon's team as they came back down the coast with a 3-1 win.

Winners on the night for QE2 were Gavin Baker (2-0), Zak Sheldon (2-1) and John Kane (2-0).
