The Plough at Lupton

Welcome to The Plough at Lupton, a traditional roadside inn transformed into a bright and open space combining contemporary and antique to provide a unique experience for our guests. What began as a six month refurbishment became twelve months, these things so often do. The place was stripped, gutted, a few walls ripped out, the floors came up and the roof came down and finally.... it has been rebuilt and newly furnished. The Plough interior is now a beautiful open space in which to relax and be easy; with wood burning stoves, stunning oak beams, antique furniture, and cosy alcoves. The original idea was to rename the place The Inn at Farleton, but in recognition of its long history and the affectionate place it has held in the hearts of the locals, The Plough remains The Plough. It has had many face lifts and reinventions over the years, we hope this one will do the place proud!

We are pleased to let you know that we have now finished five very beautiful and luxurious rooms to complete The Plough experience. Torsin and Bellingham are our two gorgeous suites, and Redman, Musgrave and Harrington are the stylish classic rooms. The rooms are named after Lupton's previous landowners dating back to the Domesday survey of 1058, showing our commitment and appreciation of the local area. All of the rooms offer a peaceful home away from home with thoughful touches including top quality local toiletries from The Bath House in Sedbergh, cosy bathrobes, and bottled mineral water. January 2014 sees the addition of our sixth room: Hutton. A super king size room with a twin room attached, ideal for families. With magnificent views of Farleton Knott and a floor to yourself it can make an equally romantic suite for two.

The transformation will please if not surprise, and if you are new customers, then prepare your surprised face! We appear to be a simple roadside pub, but missing is the “Good Food Served All Day” sign. We do serve all day from 12pm till 9.00pm, and the food is very good, but we have taken a different tack with the place. The bar and Farleton room are light and open, with a mix of comfy sofas and tables, made homely by wood burning stoves, continuous and rather impressive oak beams; wood floors and genuine antique furniture, (some may collapse on you, just to prove they are not reproductions!)
