The Thomas Tallis Ale House

The Thomas Tallis Ale House The Thomas Tallis is an ale house selling up to 30 beers in cask, key keg, bottle and can with wines, ciders and prosecco also available.
(328)

The Thomas Tallis Alehouse serves a wide range of beers from the cask, from key keg and in bottles and cans. We offer over 30 beers at any one time. The beer selection will constantly change as we seek new and exciting brews from around the world so don't get too attached to a particular beer! Alongside the beers we have a selection of great wines including from the fabulous Barnsole Vineyard at Staple, near Ash. We also stock prosecco. Ciders also feature and will be showcasing the excellent cider makers of Kent and further afield. As with the beers the cider selection will change so you can sample the wide range that exists. We do not serve meals but we do sell Kent crisps and peanuts and will add Ashmore cheese and pork pies to the food offer in the near future. You will be assured a warm welcome in The Thomas Tallis but we ask that you do not use your phone to make or receive phone calls. We have no objection to texting, searching the internet or taking photos but a noisy phone will cost you a £1 fine which will be donated to the Pilgrims Hospice. We look forward to your visit and hope you enjoy your experience.

Sunday Scaries? Have you tried a pint?🍺

Monday can wait. There’s still a perfectly good chunk of the weekend left to enjoy.

Although we’re closed tomorrow, so admittedly we’re feeling pretty smug about the whole Monday thing.

Sorry.

Anyway, pint? 🍻

If you’re looking for a proper pub this weekend, you know where we are🍺

Good cask ale, proper c***r, plenty of interesting b**rs on the board, pork pies, scotch eggs, cheese and a seat somewhere inside a rather old building in Canterbury.

No need for an occasion. Bring a mate, pick something you haven’t tried before, find a table and stay for as long as you fancy.

And with the weather starting to turn and the evenings getting that little bit cooler, the snug is beginning to look like a very good place to be again.

The log burner’s still enjoying its summer holiday for now, but we suspect it’ll be back at work before too long.

It’s Friday. The b**r’s on. Come and get comfortable🍻 Open at 2!

A very special Saturday at the Tallis 🤍

Today we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating Scarlett & Rico’s wedding with them, as they began married life surrounded by their family and friends.

There were plenty of drinks raised, lots of laughter and a whole lot of love packed into our little alehouse – and we couldn’t have asked for a lovelier reason to close the doors for a few hours.

To Scarlett & Rico, thank you for choosing the Tallis to be a small part of such a huge day. We hope today was the perfect start to the ride of your lives together.

Congratulations to the newlyweds! 🥂❤️

The last bank holiday weekend of summer is here☀️🍺

Somehow we’ve blinked and found ourselves at the end of August.

The holidays have been had, the evenings are slowly getting shorter, and this weekend feels like our last chance to collectively pretend that autumn isn’t waiting just around the corner.

So make the most of it.

Find some friends. Wander into town. Sit outside while the weather still allows it. Order the b**r you’ve been meaning to try. Get a pork pie for the table. Stay for another when you were definitely only popping in for one.

Because before we know it, the coats will be coming back out, the darker b**rs will start looking suspiciously appealing, and Dave will be deciding whether it’s actually cold enough to light the fire yet.

But we’re not there just yet.

We’ve still got one last summer bank holiday weekend to enjoy, and we can think of worse places to spend a little bit of it.

Here’s to squeezing every last drop out of summer🍻 Open today at 2.

August quiz night is on its way! 🧠🍺

Join us on Wednesday 26th August for another evening of questionable general knowledge, good b**r and friendly competition – this month in aid of Pilgrims Hospices, a charity that holds a very special place in our hearts here at the Tallis.

As always, every penny of your entry money goes to the charity, so round up your cleverest mates (or at least the ones who are good at confidently guessing) and come help us raise as much as we can for a cause that means an awful lot to us.

📅 Wednesday 26th August
🕖 7–7:30pm start
💷 £2 per person – cash only
👥 Maximum teams of 4

Good b**r, good company and hopefully a good amount raised for Pilgrims. We’d love to see you there. ❤️

We’re calling it Tasting Tuesday🍺

Tuesday doesn’t have much going for it, does it?

It’s not the start of the week anymore.
It’s nowhere near the weekend.
It doesn’t even get a catchy name like Thirsty Thursday.

So we thought we’d give it one.

Our flights of thirds are perfect if you can’t decide what’s on the b**r board, fancy trying something new, or simply want an excuse to sample a few different b**rs.

Sometimes Tuesday just deserves a little upgrade🍻

Everyone arrives at the pub for a different reason.

To celebrate.
To catch up with friends.
To unwind after a long week.
To avoid cooking.
Or sometimes… simply because it’s Friday.

Whatever brings you through our little front door, we’re always pleased to see you.

Here’s to the weekend🍻

📅 Wednesday 22nd July
🕖 Starts 7–7:30pm

👥 Maximum teams of 4

As always, every penny from your entry goes to the charity. We’d love to see a full house for this one!🍺

Lynn Reed. Wonderful customer and family. Sadly lost her battle to cancer on Wednesday 10th June. Her funeral will be at Heresden Catholic Church East View on Wednesday the 8th July at 1.30, with burial at sturry cemetery around 2.30, and a wake and celebration of her life to be held at The Gate Inn at Marshside from 3.30. All that knew her are welcome. And, as a sign of respect we will not open the Tallis on this day. Our thoughts are with all her family 🩷
