First jazz night in the new space, and we’re going in properly.

What was supposed to be a duo with myself on saxophones and John Bailey on guitar, might now be turning into a quartet, so expect some full blast swing, a few laid back ballads and plenty of good wine.

Doors open at 7pm. Grab a glass or a good bottle and settle in.

Two 45 minute sets, with a generous break in the middle for refills, chatting, and cheese & charcuterie boards.

During the music, we’ll keep it as a proper listening session and just let the band have the room.

£15 entry, with every penny going to the musicians, plus a little extra from us too. Book online. Link in bio.

And yes, I’ll be on saxophone.

What have we here..An autumnal pairing like no other.

A take on a Romanian classic. Stuffed bell peppers with ground beef and pork, in a reduction of tomato sauce and their juices. Served with soured cream and of course, the mighty dill.

Paired with an aromatic orange wine, made with the indigenous grape Feteasca Regala from laSapata .

And what a wine.. perfumed, aromatic, with rose petal, chamomile, and white pepper on the nose. An alluring mouthfeel with a wild meadow honey initial sweetness, baked peach and a surprisingly crunchy apple like freshness. A very subtle tannic grip which ads more to that crunch, and a clean aftertaste that leaves the mouth refreshed and ready for another bite/sip.

Bringing people around long tables, opening good bottles and letting the evening take its time.

The wine bar feels properly established now, and the feedback has been amazing. People love the choice of wine, 24 by the glass and always changing. It’s quite normal to look down the table and realise no one is drinking the same thing, or even having the same glass twice.

The cheeses have been getting a lot of love too. But what makes me even happier is how often people tell me how much they like the music. I probably spend far too much time choosing it, so I love that people notice.

Bright and open while the light’s coming in, warm and cosy when it gets dark.

Good wine, great cheese, good music and plenty of time to enjoy it.

Wine & Cheese Bar every Friday and Saturday.

On Sunday 20 September, Angela & Elizabeth from Petal & Twig are taking over the shop for an afternoon of flowers, wreath making and wine.

They’ll guide you through creating your own autumn wreath to take home, using a beautiful mix of dried flowers, foliage and seasonal textures.

Once the wreaths are finished, there’s absolutely no need to rush off either. We’ll have British cheese and charcuterie, breads and a few other good things available to order. And of course, the wine.

Your £55 ticket includes a glass on arrival, and we’ll have a special by the glass list of cosy autumn wines pouring throughout the afternoon if you fancy exploring a little further.

Come for the wreath. Stay for the wine.

Sunday 20 September, 2pm, £55 per person

I think it's about time to continue posting about wines I love, and incidentally sell, right?

So, this time it's a Vidiano from KTIMA APOSTOLIDI in Greece. I feel like this grape is quietly becoming a rising star from that part of the world.

With the 2024 vintage completely gone now, the 2025 continues in a similar style, although it feels noticeably different. And that's exactly how it should be with vintages. Different year, different growing season, different wine. I'd probably be more suspicious if it tasted exactly the same.

Still ripe but less honeyed, with ripe peach, sweet lemon, dry hay and wildflowers, and a lovely unctuous feel. There's a touch more brightness this time around though, leading into a more pronounced bittersweet pink grapefruit finish.

It's a generous style of white, but super clean and precise, especially considering it's organic and biodynamic, and fermented with native yeasts.

If this sounds like your kind of wine, come and get yours. £25.

Truthfully,
Alex
