Wins Community Fundraising Hero Scotland Award šŸ„³

Absolutely fantastic news for the Auld Hoose. For anyone who hasnā€™t heard yet, I received a call on Tuesday evening from Melanie Ward passing on the message that The Auld Hoose has officially won the Community Fundraising Hero Scotland award.

What an achievement, unbelievable!!!!

This speaks volumes about what THE AULD HOOSE stands for and shows that itā€™s now been recognised at the highest level.

A massive thanks to the Open Mic Team, past and present - Ron, Brian, Derek and Paul, thank you for all the time, effort and heart youā€™ve put into making this event so special. To my staff, previous management and all my regulars who make this pub what it is, this award belongs to every single one of you. Scotland needs Pubs and this shows why.

Melanie (MP) who attended the final at Parliament, picked up the award on our behalf and will be bringing it back to the Auld Hoose.

Iā€™ll keep everyone updated on when it arrives.

The Auld Hoose has been nominated by our local MP Melanie Ward (Cowdenbeath & Kirkcaldy) for the Community Pub Hero Awards and weā€™ve made it all the way to the National final in the Community Fundraising Hero category. To even reach this stage is incredible. In my eyes, weā€™ve already won.

Iā€™ve only been Manager for short while, yet the support Iā€™ve been given from the staff, the locals and the owners has been unbelievable. This nomination makes me truly proud, proud of this pub and proud of this community.

I want to give a massive thank you to our Open Mic team:

Ron Haldane and Brian Nairn ā€” whose years of dedication built the foundation of what this event is today.

Derek Brown ā€” who stepped in and carried the torch with pride.

Paul Plunkett ā€” who brings the event to life through media and social.

For over four years this team has given their own time, month after month to make the last Sunday of every month something special. The number of charities theyā€™ve supported and helped not just with donations (Fife is Best) is nothing short of remarkable. It shows what happens when good people give their time, their talent and their hearts.

To every performer who turns up, no matter the weather and no matter whatā€™s going on in life (thank you). To every local who support the event, supports the pub and supports every charity we stand behind (thank you). Itā€™s you who make the difference.

A special mention as well to Against The Grain, Fife Wh**ky, and Jamo who have all contributed to local charity events.

And not to forget Marisha Walker Bell and Karen Begg, who managed these events and many other amazing charities long before I arrived. I salute you! Your hard work has now been recognised on a national stage and itā€™s so well deserved.

Pubs matter, too many have closed. Communities need places like ours, places where people come together, where friendships are made, where support is found and where banter is in abundance. The Auld Hoose is proof of why pubs are still needed and why they still matter.

Letā€™s keep our fingers and toes crossed. Youā€™re already winners in my eyes and I know many others feel the same.

Iā€™ll keep you all updated with the final outcome.

There was plenty of lovely food and a big thank you to acting captain Brian Richardson for buying our team a round of drinks, it was very much appreciated.

Mike, what a privilege it was to host the unveiling of your stunning painting, your talent deserves every bit of recognition.

Massive thanks to everyone who came along to The Auld Hoose for the unveiling of our new painting, your support means the world.

Our buffet was supplied by Buttercup CafƩ, just wow, what an absolute showstopper. Stunning to look at and even better to taste. Kinghorn is lucky to have this level of quality on its doorstep, truly amazing food, thank you Sharon!

Our new painting will be displayed on the wall between the bar and lounge!
