Working mens club, We are a very friendly working mens club not far from the hospital in Burnley. We joined the C.I.U.

There has been a building on this site since 1850 when it occupied a strategic point on the road to Skipton, at the time the main road across the Pennines. The building (then a Bake house and stables) was bought by Councillor William Whittaker and the club was born. in 1903 and was used as a soup kitchen during WWII. The building burned down in 1968 but was rebuilt on the old site. We have a good sized function room with a 10' drop down TV screen Used to show major sporting events. A Lounge and games room with a 3/4 sized snooker table. We hold Functions throughout the year both private and public, and with Bingo on Sunday and Monday and entertainment every Sunday night we cater for all ages. The family of Stephen Belshaw, known to all as Bella, have asked that we share his passing with you.

Steve sadly passed away at home in Burnley on Thursday, 22nd October 2026, aged 72 years.

Steve was a much-loved Partner, Dad and Granddad. He was also a great friend to many and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service to honour Steve’s life will take place at 10.30am on Wednesday 11th November 2026, at St Andrew’s Church, (Colne Road, Burnley), followed by a further commital service at Burnley Crematorium at 11.30am. All who knew Steve are welcome to join the family.

Following these services, the family warmly invites those who knew and loved Steve to Brierfield Working Men’s Club, (Walter Street, Brierfield) for refreshments and to continue to share memories and stories of him together.

Family flowers only please, with donations in lieu of flowers being collected for Burnley in the Community in Steve’s memory. Donations can be left in cash after the service, or online with tributes to him at the following link; https://stephen-belshaw.muchloved.com/
