The last time Steve and Janet visited us up here there was a lot of arguing between him and Stef over who was the grumpiest landlord, well anyone that knows them both knows that neither of them are actually that grumpy at all it’s just a show

Sending all our love to Janet and your kids and grandkids, also Adam and Pat ###

Rest easy big fella 💔

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we, Steve’s family, share the devastating news of his passing on Sunday 25th October.

To the community, Steve was the heart and soul of this pub as its proud owner and landlord, and a brilliant DJ who brought so much joy and music to the local area. He was loved by so many for his uniquely funny, witty, and vibrant personality that could light up any room.

To us, he was the world—a devoted husband, an incredible father, and a deeply loved grandad.

This is a huge loss for our family, and we know it will be felt deeply by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Steve will absolutely never be forgotten. His legacy will live on in the community he built here and the unforgettable memories we all share.

You will be loved and missed more than words can say.

Funeral arrangements will be announced when available.

From Janet, Ben, Sarah and family

Residents are advised that Halifax Road will be closed between Haggate and Walverden Road from 16 November to 13 December to allow the replacement of approximately 650 metres of gas pipework.

Emergency vehicle access and residential access will be maintained, with the exception of any restrictions required to carry out the works safely.

Utility companies have statutory powers to undertake work on the highway, and Lancashire County Council is required to ensure a safe system of work is in place.

I appreciate this closure will cause disruption for residents, businesses and commuters, so please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys.

I’ll share any further updates on the works and access arrangements as they become available.

🍻 WEEKEND ROUND-UP! 🍻

Well… what a weekend! We’re not quite sure how we’ve survived it, but we’re extremely grateful to every single one of you who came through our doors! ❤️

⭐ Carl became TikTok famous! ⭐
We’re still waiting for the fame to go to his head… although he’s already checking his phone every 30 seconds for his next big break! 😂📱

🍽️ Over 300 covers served!
Our new menu has certainly been put through its paces, with so many hungry customers joining us over the weekend. Safe to say the kitchen was BUSY! A massive thank you to everyone who came to try the new menu — we hope you loved it as much as we loved feeding you! ❤️

🥩 Our first ever Meat Raffle!
And congratulations to Kelly, our very first winner! 🎉🥓
The meat raffle is now a weekly Sunday evening fixture, so if you fancy topping up the fridge for just £2, get your tickets behind the bar!

👋 New faces on the team!
A big welcome to our new staff member Tom who joined us this weekend. Be kind to him….he’s still learning where everything is! 😂❤️

🎂 And of course there’s been lots of birthday celebrations with us over the weekend, and we’re delighted you chose to spend part of your special day here at The Hare & Hounds. 🥂🎉

From the kitchen team, the bar staff and everyone behind the scenes — thank you! ❤️

We genuinely couldn’t do it without our amazing customers. Busy weekends can be hard work, but seeing the pub full, hearing the laughter and watching everyone enjoying themselves makes it all worthwhile.

Here’s to another week… and hopefully a slightly quieter one for Carl’s TikTok notifications! 😂🍻

Thank you for your continued support — we really do appreciate every single one of you. ❤️

Here’s a few pictures of some of the food that’s left the kitchen this weekend 🍔🥧
