The log burner is lit, the candles are down the bar, and the kitchen is cooking the kind of food November was made for; proper plates, unhurried and warm, a stone's throw from Burford High Street.

Whether it's lunch by the fire or dinner that rolls into one more glass, the table's waiting.

Our team have been carving pumpkins and now they need you. 🎃

Three pumpkins, carved between shifts by three very competitive members of staff. Some went for spooky. Some went for clever. One went entirely their own way, as always.

Your vote decides it. Comment 1, 2 or 3 below.

Voting closes Sunday 1 November at 9pm. The champion's pumpkin takes pride of place on the bar, and the carver takes the glory.

Come and see them glowing before you vote, they're rather better in the flesh (and the fire's lit).

Make Burford your base this October and settle in at The Angel between your autumn adventures.
On Saturday 31st October, kids eat free before 6pm when they come in fancy dress — the perfect start to Halloween evening. T&Cs apply.

Blenheim Palace’s Halloween trail runs from 22nd October–1st November.
Cotswold Farm Park’s Pumpkin Patch is open 2nd–4th, 9th–11th, 16th–18th and 21st–31st October, with live music evenings on 10th, 17th, 24th and 28th.
Head to Batsford Arboretum for a family wander among some of the Cotswolds’ best autumn colour. Cogges Manor Farm’s Dracula Spooktacular runs from 22nd October–1st November, bringing plenty of spooky half-term fun.

Book ahead where needed, make a day of it, then head back to Burford for something good to eat and a cosy spot at The Angel.
