❤️ THE CROWN, GAWCOTT – A HEARTFELT MESSAGE TO OUR COMMUNITY ❤️
HOW MUCH LONGER CAN SMALL VILLAGE PUBS SURVIVE?
Following the latest Budget, I honestly feel that this could be the final straw for many independent pubs, including The Crown.
The constant rise in costs, taxes, wages, energy bills and the financial pressures of running a small business are making it almost impossible to survive.
I have put my heart, soul, time and money into The Crown. We have worked tirelessly to keep the doors open, improve our food, introduce new menus, organise entertainment, support local charities and create somewhere our village can come together.
But passion, hard work and determination alone cannot pay the bills.
💔 The reality is that The Crown is struggling, and I can no longer pretend otherwise.
We are now at a crossroads, and the next few months may determine whether The Crown can continue trading.
That is not something I ever imagined I would have to say.
We are not announcing a closure, but we are being open and honest about the challenges we face.
A village pub is so much more than a business. It's the heart of a community. It's where neighbours become friends, families celebrate, people find company and memories are made.
But a village pub cannot survive on goodwill alone. It needs people walking through its doors.

Come in for a pint, enjoy a meal, try our weekend breakfast, book a Sunday carvery, attend one of our events or bring your friends and family along.
Even one extra visit a month from local households could make a real difference.
And I genuinely want to hear from you.
What can we do differently? What would bring you through our doors more often? What does our village want from its pub?
I am willing to listen, adapt and make changes, but we cannot do this alone.
I am not asking for sympathy or charity. I am asking for support, ideas and a genuine chance to save something that belongs at the heart of our village.
It would be heartbreaking to see The Crown become another village pub that disappears, leaving behind an empty building and memories of what once was.
Please don't wait until the doors are closed to say how much you loved having a pub in the village.
Support it now, while we still have the opportunity to make a difference.
