Independent brother and sister owned bar and restaurant serving locally sourced, fresh food. We are passionate about quality, locally sourced food and take pride in sourcing Bristol's freshest ingredient and cooking them to a high standard. As a brother and sister combo, John an engineer by trade and Helly a highly experienced chef, decided to follow their dream and start a truly independent, fami

ly run, neighborhood bar and restaurant. The Malago opened its doors on 26th May 2017.

The Malago celebrates the natural and industrial aspects of Bristol city living. A unique, friendly and welcoming neighborhood bar and restaurant with a focus on fresh, locally sourced and quality food. Our food reflects Head Chef Helly's love of modern, British cuisine with a unique European influence. We offer a dynamic menu of brunch, lunch and evening food, creatively prepared and served in a warm, welcoming and friendly setting.

Our food and drink celebrates Bristol's independent producers, showcasing the finest aspects of the natural and industrial heartland of Bristol. We aim to reduce our food (and drink) miles as much as possible, being supplied by the likes of the Severn Project for our edible flowers and leaves, and the great Bristol Beer Factory for our beers. Join us for brunch, lunch, dinner, coffee or drinks. We have a highly talented team of chefs, and experienced bar and waiting staff who are all looking forward to welcoming you to The Malago.

FOUR whole years ago Charlotte got in touch with us seeking a home for her Mama Brunches; in her words…”a space to bring together groups of Mamas craving a sense of community and genuine connection while figuring out this whole motherhood thing”

Two years since the pandemic started, most of us were pretty ‘lost’ (?!) socially awkward (?!) badly dressed (?!) and struggling to figure our way in a different world to the one we’d existed in pre-Covid.

For mothers craving connection in a somewhat lonely world, Charlottes space was integral then, and continues to be now.

In the four years since, she’s created an unbelievable space here, a much loved and valued community, and we’re so proud to host her.

Friday 15th May we’re gonna celebrate 🥳 So, if it’s your 4th year of brunching with her OR your first time…come sit with the magic ✨ and we’ll take care of the rest 💫

🍔 DID YOU KNOW? 🍔

The term ‘burger’ (obv short for Hamburger) came about in the 19th Century. Germany immigrants bought a dish called Hamburg Steak to the US (basically minced beef shaped into a patty and cooked). This hamburg style beef patty started being served between slices of bread and/or buns AND as a convenient street or fair food.

We’ve got EITHER our Malago Beef Burger OR our Moving Mountains Plant Based Burger available on our menu’s NOW so be SURE to come taste a bit of bun based HISTORY 🍔
