Evening, you swingin' souls.

Tomorrow night, at The Red Monkey, the joint is gonna be jumpin', in the loosest, laziest sense of the word.
From eight o'clock, our man Jake "Needle Drop" Pegg takes the decks and lays down the vinyl. Instrumental jazz, crossing the pond from both sides, strictly no vocals.

Picture that smoky little den down on the South Bank, Blue Smoke Basement, presided over by the legendary Duke Fitzgerald, the kingpin of cool himself. Low lights, a hint of old record sleeves and strong black coffee, and a groove so unhurried it practically takes a nap between beats.

Hard-bop from the Big Apple, as hot as a brass section on a Saturday night... cool-jazz smooth as velvet on a rainy street... and some splendid British gems that'll have your toes tapping before you've finished your first sip.
Trumpet, sax, bass, and a beat that just won't quit. No voices. Just pure, uncut music. And that soft, warm crackle of the needle, like a fireplace for your ears.

Fine sounds. Real ale to hand. One slow, sultry, snap-your-fingers kind of night.

As the great Louis Balfour would say... NICE!

🍻BEER FROM THE WOOD🍻

Exciting times here @ The Red Monkey as we gear up for the winter season.

Our treasured bourbon‑oak cask is currently with BBF, south of the river — their national‑award‑winning Milk Stout is conditioning nicely inside it, soaking up those warm woody notes.

But that’s not all. We’ve also procured some more oak casks — and some of your (and our) favourite regional breweries are already queuing up to pour some liquid loveliness into them.

More wood‑aged real ale magic on the way…

Our mission here @ The Red Monkey?

Simple. To bring you the finest real ales — always cared for, always served in peak condition.

It’s not quite rocket science — but there’s definitely a lot of physics involved, and a fair amount of chemistry too.

We’re adding an extra dimension — bringing back our bourbon oak cask, which went down an absolute treat at our recent real ale festival.

And our festival champion? Azimuth — the deliciously smooth porter from Little Martha Brewing, served from that very cask — went down a storm!

Ale from the wood is not confined to just festivals which is why we’re now on the lookout for our next brewery collaboration.

We’ve wrapped up our 2nd Real Ale Festival — 12 fantastic ales, brilliant vibes, and so much love for great cask b**r. Thank you to everyone who came, tasted, and made it such a success!

**Less than 48 hours until The Red Monkey's Autumn Real Ale Festival! 🐒🍻**

12 REAL ALES

Look closely and you'll spot our newly commissioned bourbon oak cask on the back bar, filled with **Azimuth** (5.7%) from Little Martha Brewing. Brewer Ed says: "Strong porter with Centennial hops, lightly roasty with a deceptively floral lemon zest and pine finish."

Also on the bar:

**Yawn** (4.2%) is the latest from BS6 and Bristol treasure Ashley Down Brewery, described as, and I quote, “unpleasantly sweet pale ale". It flew out at The Fallen Tree Micropub, and it's not quite on general release yet. Missed it in Clevedon? Catch it here in Redland.

**Brummie Stout** (4.8%) from Birmingham Brewing Company, rarely seen in Bristol, if ever.

**Mandarina** (4.5%) from our friends at Glastonbury Ales; a deep amber, German-hopped, German-malt nod to Oktoberfest.

Cheese rolls and pork pies will be on hand to keep you going 🧀
