Brighton’s oldest pub located in the heart of Brighton’s South Lanes! Its central location lends itself perfectly to work parties and gatherings.

To walk through the door of this real find of a pub is to step back in time to the days of Victorian splendour - thick carpets, pictures on walls and ceilings and a comfy, homely atmosphere. There has been a pub on this site since 1547 and the original Landlord, one Derrick Carver was burnt as a martyr for his religious beliefs. One of its' most famous "guests" in the past has been "Jack the Ripper" - and in The Greene Room bar, (upstairs), you can spend some time following the story of his origins and how he planned his murders from this very spot. This is also the famous pub immortalised by Graham Greene in his classic novel "Brighton Rock". This unique pub has a charm all of its' own and attracts locals, business people and visitors from all around the World who enjoy the atmosphere of a true Victorian public house along with good beer and quality food served til late.
