A busy day in the kitchen today getting everything ready…

And from tomorrow lunchtime, we’ll be starting to serve food at The Shakespeare. 🍽️

We’re easing into it rather than making a huge song and dance about it, while Mike and the kitchen team get into their rhythm.

So if you’re passing, fancy lunch, or just want to be one of the first to try the new menu, come and see us.

We’re very excited to finally be at this point.

A Joule’s Friday tradition. 🍻

Free sausage rolls have been part of Friday afternoons in Joule’s pubs for years — traditionally served from around 5pm and gone when they’re gone.

The tradition even ties back to the brewery, with spent grain going to local farms and some of that coming full circle through the pork used in the sausage rolls.

We thought it was a tradition well worth bringing back at The Shakespeare.

So from 5pm tomorrow, Mike will be serving them up.

And when they’re gone, they’re gone.

The kitchen is looking a lot more like a kitchen again. 👀

After a full clean-down today, everything is finally back in place and we’re making really good progress.

There is still one oven to arrive, but our slightly more unexpected problem is that the ovens we already have arrived without shelves. 🤦‍♀️

Which, as it turns out, are fairly useful things to have inside an oven.

We’re also waiting for the baking trays and pans we’ve ordered, so we’re not quite at the point where we can actually start cooking yet.

It’s frustrating when everything looks this close, but the good news is that the kitchen itself is cleaned, organised and ready for those final pieces to arrive.

We’re getting there — and we’re very much looking forward to finally putting all of this shiny stainless steel to good use.

Something new is coming to Saturdays at The Shakespeare. 🎶

Shakespeare Sessions launches on Saturday 7 November, with live music from Ivory & Steel and Andy Pearce from 12:30pm–6pm.

Food will be served all day, so come for lunch, stay for the music and make an afternoon of it.

And this is just the first one — Shakespeare Sessions will be back every fortnight.

What a weekend. ❤️

We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came through the doors, supported us, wished us well and shared such kind words throughout this whole journey.

To the people of Bridgnorth and the surrounding area, thank you for making us feel so welcome. It’s been lovely hearing your stories about The Shakespeare, how long you’ve been coming here, and what the pub means to you.

A huge thank you too to Joe Seager, Tin Can and Becky Peters for bringing such brilliant live music to our first weekend.

And an extra special thank you to Joule’s for all their support in helping make our takeover as smooth as possible, for backing us through the process and for helping us get to the point where we could finally open the doors.

And then there’s our team.

They have worked incredibly hard, put in long hours and somehow helped us go from absolute chaos to ready to open the doors. Through all of it, they still managed to serve every drink, greet every customer and keep smiling genuinely.

We couldn’t have asked for more from them, and we’re very proud to call them our team.

We’ve loved this weekend more than we can probably put into words.

Our next big step is getting the kitchen fully up and running, and we’re hoping to start introducing our food offer over the next week, all being well. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we’re ready.

And one more thing…

If you haven’t got plans for Saturday 7th November, you might want to keep the afternoon free. We’ve got something coming that we’re very excited about, and we’ll be announcing it very soon.

This is only the beginning, and we’re very excited about what’s still to come at The Shakespeare.

Thank you for being part of our first weekend.
