The Keighley Playhouse

The Keighley Playhouse We are a lively little theatre company with a big love for stories and the odd dramatic entrance. Interval drinks can be pre ordered at the bar.

Based in the heart of Keighley, we bring together a brilliant bunch of performers and behind the scenes magicians to bring to you the wonder of live theatre On show week, the Bar opens from 7:00pm and Curtain Up is at 7.30pm. Tea and biscuits can also be preordered and will be brought to your seat during the interval. The theatre is equipped with hearing enhancement to make your visit a pleasurabl

e experience. We have recently refurbished out facilities to give the theatre that professional appearance and are thrilled to announce that we now accept card payments. Free Wifi is also available. Street parking is available directly outside, less than ten minutes (walk) from the train station and only five minutes walk from the bus station. We also host an array of social events from Quizzes, to Bowling Nights, Fairs and Dinner Dances. Keep an eye out for the next event. We now also offer online ticket booking, via Ticket Source.

•Despite many attempts and discussions we are sorry to announce that we cannot provide wheelchair access due to Health & Safety, Fire & Building Regulations. Our History...
Locals may know that we used to be called 'Keighley Little Theatre' which was formed in 1947, by Frederic W. Pye and seven other like-minded individuals discussed the viability of forming a small amateur company to stage plays. In early 1949, we were offered the lease on premises in Devonshire Street which is where we still are today! In 1969, Keighley Little Theatre re-branded as Keighley Playhouse.

“Meet the Society”

The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society proudly presents…

…something that was definitely meant to be a murder mystery.

Their enthusiasm cannot be questioned.
Their competence absolutely can.

Rehearsals are underway for Farndale…

So far we’ve had:
✔ Missed entrances
✔ Questionable accents
✔ Props behaving suspiciously
✔ Someone definitely reading the wrong page

Which means we’re perfectly on schedule.

Every great murder mystery needs:

🕵️ A detective
😱 A terrified victim
🤨 Several suspicious guests
☕ And at least one person more interested in the refreshments

Farndale has all of these.
Just perhaps not intentionally.

If you’ve never seen Farndale before, imagine:

🔹 A serious murder mystery
🔹 Performed by people who definitely aren’t ready
🔹 Props failing
🔹 Scenery collapsing
🔹 Tea intervals treated with deadly seriousness

And somehow… it becomes comedy gold.

Coming to Keighley Playhouse from 22 June.

🧹 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT Keighley Playhouse this Friday 5th June 730pm🧹

Bar will be open.

Following the recent plastering work around the theatre, we’re looking for a few helping hands to assist with a general clean-up at the Playhouse. As you can imagine, there’s a fair bit of dust and tidying to tackle before everything is back to normal for our next play.

If you can spare an hour or maybe two to help sweep, wipe down, vacuum or generally muck in, it would be hugely appreciated. Every little bit helps keep our wonderful theatre looking its best for members and audiences

No special skills needed — just old clothes, a good sense of humour and a willingness to help out. ☕🧽

If you’re available, please comment below or message the page.

Thank you as always for supporting your local theatre ❤️

🎭 CASTING CALL 🎭

Keighley Playhouse is inviting expressions of interest for two male roles in our October 2026 production of A Passionate Woman by Kay Mellor directed by Jonathan Scott

Both roles are 18 and over.

📅 Performance Dates: 19–24 October 2026

We are currently looking to cast:

🔹 Craze
A charismatic local bad boy with charm, swagger and a dangerous edge. Funny, magnetic and unpredictable beneath the bravado. A real “life and soul of the party” type — but with emotional depth underneath.

🔹 Mark
Betty’s son who is getting married. Sharp, observant and aware of the family tensions that simmer around him. A natural, believable young male role with warmth and honesty.

Whether you’re a familiar face at the Playhouse or completely new to us, we’d love to hear from you.

If you’re interested, please send us a message or email by the 8th June with a little about yourself and any acting experience to
[email protected]

✨ A funny, moving and beautifully Northern play from one of Yorkshire’s most loved writers.
