To everyone who has signed our petition, shared a post, sent a kind message or popped in to offer support, thank you. The response has been overwhelming, and it means so much to everyone here at The George.

We’ve put our hearts into creating a garden where friends can catch up, families can spend time together and we can all enjoy those precious Yorkshire afternoons when the sun remembers where we are. ☀️🍻

Seeing how much you care about keeping it has made every bit of that effort worthwhile.

Our application is now due to go before the Planning Committee on **21 October**. There is still a decision to be made, but we’ll keep you updated as things progress.

For now, we simply want to say how grateful we are to be part of a village that shows up for its local.

A huge congratulations to Mark, who was the lucky winner of our vodka raffle! 🎉🍸

But in an absolutely brilliant gesture, Mark has decided not to keep the prize for himself and has generously donated it back so that we can re-raffle the vodka and raise even more money for Manorlands! ❤️

What a fantastic gesture and a true example of community spirit. 👏👏

💚 CULLINGWORTH, WE NEED YOUR HELP. SAVE OUR VILLAGE BEER GARDEN. LIKE, SHARE AND IF YOU SUPPORT PLEASE SIGN.

A sunny afternoon. The children enjoying time outside with you close by. A meal with family, a catch-up with neighbours and a chance to soak up that little bit of glorious Yorkshire sunshine.

Those moments are exactly why we brought The George’s beer garden to life.

We took a neglected, untidy piece of land in our beautiful conservation area and put time, work and care into making it somewhere our village could enjoy. Somewhere to pull up a chair, see a familiar face and feel at home.

Now we’re asking for your support to help keep it. We want to show Planning the community are behind this little summer oasis.

The Council has served an enforcement notice despite us trying to work with the council and get questions answered as they believe the land requires planning permission for a change of use. We’re challenging that position through the formal process as we're not building anything and it's always been land associated with the pub - it's even licenced! Environmental Health, Licencing and Highways have raised no objection to our application, and the Conservation Officer recognised the garden’s positive contribution. Despite this the council are looking to reject our application because of a previous application made under the old owners in 2014.

We’ve listened to neighbours, maintained and monitored the garden, and kept it closed after 9pm out of respect for those living nearby.

Ruby and Teddy look like they’re having the best time enjoying a sunny day together. ☀️ From their happy faces to those irresistible fluffy coats, it’s impossible not to fall in love with them!

They’re the perfect pair and definitely deserve our Dogs of the Week title. 🏆🐾
