The Hidden Cost of a Warm Welcome — Part 2: The Electric Bill ⚡

Last time we told you about the logs. Now for the other thing keeping the lights on — literally.

Our electricity bill runs at over £2,500 a month. Yes, really. And like anyone with a home, we lock into a contract — we can't shop around week to week, we're committed to the price we agreed.

So we watch it. Some evenings, while we're waiting for you to arrive, you'll find us running a bit darker than most pubs. Marie's rule is "last on, first off" — unless a light is needed for someone to work.

My nan has a saying: "Look after the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves."

Is she right? Honestly, at £2,500 a month, we have to believe she is. Every small business owner in the country is doing the same thing — trimming wherever there's a trim to make, because the margins are thin and the bills are not.

But here's the thing. If you're sitting in a corner and it's darker than you'd like — just ask. Say the word and we'll put the light on for you. No awkwardness, no fuss. We're not trying to save money at your expense; we're just trying to time it right.

A warm welcome is the whole point. A dim one was never the plan. 🔥
