Alicia is an important part of our kitchen team, bringing a calm, friendly energy to every shift. Alongside studying beauty at college, she’s discovered a real love for cooking and has thrown herself into learning as much as she can.

Working closely with Mark, she’s been building her confidence, developing new skills, and showing real dedication to improving every day. Whether she’s helping with prep, supporting service, or keeping the kitchen running smoothly, Alicia always gives her best.

We’re on the lookout for up‑and‑coming performers who want to put themselves out there, gain experience and get some great local publicity.

The Ball House is hosting a Community Fun Day on Saturday 15th August 2026, and we’re looking to add even more fantastic acts to our line‑up.

🍺🔧 Line Clean Day – Behind the Scenes at The Ball House

Here’s the step‑by‑step process we follow every time we clean the beer lines to keep every pint tasting its best:

1️⃣ Prep & Disconnect

• Gas off: We turn off the gas supply to the lines.
• Disconnect kegs: Couplers are removed from the barrels and attached to the cleaning ring main ready for the cleaning cycle.

2️⃣ Caustic Clean

• Mix cleaner: A fresh batch of alkaline line cleaning solution is mixed exactly to the manufacturer’s dilution.
• Draw through the system: The caustic solution is pumped from the cellar tank right up to the taps until it’s flowing through each line (colour‑change cleaner shows bright purple at the tap).
• Bleed & soak: FOBs are bled so they’re full of cleaner, then the lines are left to soak with fresh solution pulled through every 10 minutes to agitate and break down yeast and biofilm.

3️⃣ Rinse & Reconnect

• Flush out cleaner: The vessel is refilled with fresh cold water and we run plenty through the taps to push all chemical out of the system.
• Neutral check: Rinsing continues until the water runs clear and tests neutral on pH.
• Back on beer: Couplers are reconnected to the kegs, gas is turned back on, FOBs are bled, and we pull a test pint to check clarity, aroma and taste.

All of this happens weekly to make sure every pint you get is clean, crisp and exactly how it should be 🍻
