It is with a heavy Heart I make this announcement. Sadly last week we tragically lost two Meerkats due to a burrow collapse because of the extreme hot weather. Despite us taking every precaution to prevent this by bringing the Meerkats in every night to feed them then manually collapsing the burrows to prevent them sleeping underground we didn’t manage to prevent this tragedy when two of them got buried the following day. We built there summer enclosure to mimic there natural environment which we closed off in winter and in heavy rain leaving them access to an external winter enclosure of sand only and heated indoor housing. We have taken the decision to turn the summer enclosure into a sand only to prevent this happening again and we currently working on removing all the soil. We are absolutely gutted by this tragedy and it is only made worse by one them being Marley-Bob our most friendliest and favourite Meerkat. Before posting negative comments please keep in mind we are heartbroken and already feeling guilty and these are rescues and I only took the pub on for somewhere to home them. We taking measures to prevent this in future.

PLEASE NOTE we are almost fully booked for the next 3 weeks only a few slots available please phone for quick response after midday. Good news for Meerkat lovers ! Next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we would like to invite you in to have lunch then enjoy a cuddle with our two babies. We will be hold these for the next three weeks to humanise them for their own benefit so when it comes to vets visits or moving them for reasons like Brockham bonfire it is a lot less stressful.
