Did you know that pubs used to bond their own whiskey. This was where bars like Crown Bar Belfast bought raw spirit directly from distilleries to age and blend on-site. In a time when most distilleries didn’t bottle their own this meant the bar could be sure of the quality of their whiskey and not fall foul of any unscrupulous merchants who may have tampered with or watered down the product.

Each morning we walk the bar to turn the gas lights on and it lets you see the beauty of the building from a different perspective. You also occasionally get to see our team morale officer people watching through the gates 😊

The decoration on the glass in our windows and doors is hand painted and is a work of art in its own right. A bit of Belfast sunshine makes it look even better illuminating the detail and the colours that make our bar so special

With our bar being grade 1 listed there’s not much we can do to get more seating in downstairs but if you’re in for a drink and can’t find a spot to sit then there are a couple of tall tables in the lobby of our dining rooms we keep reserved just for drinkers.

We know that one of the best things in life is going to the pub with your best friend and if that best friend happens to be of the canine variety we think that’s o.k too.
Well behaved dogs like our team morale officer Winston are always welcome
