It's finally here. With FIFA making the entirely on-brand decision to host their flagship tournament in a country headed up by a totalitarian despot, this year's World promises to be a s**t show for the ages.

Resident Quiz Master Vuvuzela Batistuta, when asked about doing a football themed mini Quiz Tournament had this to say, "I don't f**k with no ball games bruh."

And with that, our really barely, arguably not at all, World Cup themed Summer Mini Tournament quiz was born!

3 Weeks!

1 Winner!

Absolutely zero footballing knowledge needed!

Kicking off June 16th at 7pm.

Max members per team is 5. Tenner per team.

£200 for overall winning team and prizes for each team winning on the night.

We are beyond excited to host at our September Sibín Session.

Amano is a singer and multidisciplinary artist with roots in Kerry and Kyūshū (Japan). Her live performances attune to people, place and season, blending Irish sean-nós with contemporary fusion, new folk compositions and spoken word.

She approaches music through an animistic worldview where the songs and stories of tradition are co-created and alive; not only in our human experiences but within the greater-than-human ecosystem too.

She was nominated for “Artist of the Year” at the 2026 Gradaim Nós Irish Language Music Awards. Her debut electronic collaboration with Cork producer Kalabanx, THREAD, was nominated for “Album of the Year” and “Song of the Year” at the Gradaim Nós in 2025.

Cumadóir, amhránaí, file, agus taibhealaíontóir is ea Amano a bhíonn meascán de shean- nós, hip hap, popcheol agus ceol deabhóideach le fáil ina cuid saothair. Tá a cleachtas tumtha i dtuiscint anamach i dtaca leis an talamh, an dúlra agus na foirmeacha bheatha éagsúla lena roinnimid an domhan.

Sula ndeachaigh sí i mbun gairm bheatha sna healaíona, chaith Amano blianta ar shaoire an mhála droma agus ag déanamh taighde ar chreidimh dhomhanda, antraipeolaíocht agus fealsúnacht. Tá rianta don tuiscint chultúrtha leathan sin le mothú ina taibhiú inniu.

Rugadh Amano i dtuaisceart na Seapáine agus tógadh i gcroí lár Chiarraí í. Chuaigh an nGaelainn agus an ceol go mór i bhfeidhm uirthi i rith a laethanta scoile agus thosaigh sí ag seinm go gairmiúil agus í ina déagóir.

Le blianta beaga anuas tá tacaíocht faighte ag Amano ó Chomhairle Éalaíon na hÉireann, An Taibhdhearc agus Comhairle Chontae Chiarraí chun a ceol agus scríobhneoireacht a fhorbairt. I 2024, d’eisigh Amano an EP THREAD a chruthaigh sí in éineacht le Garry McCarthy / Kalabanx, EP a léiríonn Éire in aois a claochlaithe. Chomhoibrigh sí freisin leis an rapálaí
Blue Niall ar athmheasc “Leanbh” a eisíodh i 2025.

Next up for our Sibín Sessions;

Polar Bolero.

Wednesday 10th June 8pm.

The highly acclaimed Derry rooted band have turned heads in the Irish music scene. Blending virtuosic musicianship with incredible stage presence and engaging story telling, Polar Bolero have increasingly impacted audiences and have become serious players in the contemporary Irish music scene.

“With simple story telling that is just vague enough to keep the listener guessing and well thought out musical arrangements which effortlessly evoke nostalgia for great balladeers such as Billy Joel and Leonard Cohen; Simultaneously sophisticated yet rough and ready.”

This is Tony O'Neill, the owner and chef of a popular Belfast restaurant who says that NI's hospitality industry is 'broken' 🍽️

Together with his wife, Tony owns Coppi, a staple on the Belfast food scene since it introduced NI to Venetian small plates over 14 years ago.

The restaurant has reopened after undergoing refurbishment ahead of the summer and Tony has opened up on what's a turbulent time for the industry.

"To be honest, the hospitality industry isn't really working at the minute - it is broken," Tony explained.

"It's a broken model and the UK government doesn't see it. Where before, every restaurant would have had reserves in their bank and they would have had money to keep them going on a rainy day, I think a lot of restaurants are really a couple of months away from being pushed over the line.

"The margin is so tight that it's squeezed and it has made trading difficult - it's pushing the cost of eating out up and making it very expensive."

He said these pressures are putting so many businesses "on the verge".

Tony added: "When you look at the south, it's 9% VAT they are going to in hospitality, but we're still 20%. It does make it almost impossible to trade through that."

Helen, very selfishly is taking a break for Summer (the barefaced cheek of her) - but before she says goodbye to us all until the Autumn, she's leaving us with her good weather recommendations. For June, we're sampling some fun, easy drinking wine to have in the garden, on the beach or holded up in a caravan in Donegal as it pi**es down around you.

This month we'll be guzzling on

Bubbles - Dolci Colline Prosecco
White - Palazzi 'GPG' Gargenega/Pinot Grigio
Rosé - El Nino de Paper Rosé
Red - Estampado (Malbec/Bonarda)

The Grateful Bread will be on hand, whipping up appropriately lip smacking nibbles to complement each generously poured sampling.
