🎳 NBWMC Bowling Section 🎳

The Bowling Section has been an important part of NBWMC for over a century, celebrating its centenary in 2014. Its remarkable history stretches back to 1914 and includes two World Wars, epidemics, redevelopment and The Troubles — yet the club and its bowlers have continued to thrive.

🏆 A proud tradition of success
The Bowling Section is a member of the Northern Ireland Private Greens League, and in 2023 the section won its division in the Private Greens League.

Over the years, the club has enjoyed tremendous success at both local and international level, including an Irish Senior Cup and an impressive seven Junior Cup wins.

The club has also been proud to provide the Presidency of the Irish Bowls Association twice, as well as the Presidency of the Northern Ireland Private Greens League on five occasions.

🌿 Did you know?
The bowling green was laid out in 1913, following the acceptance of a contract from Mr D. Leslie of Glasgow for £381 19s 9d — equivalent to approximately £44,365.48 in today’s money.

Our Roll of Honour dates back to July 1914 and is proudly displayed in the Club’s Great Hall.

🎳 Interested in playing bowls?
New players are always welcome! Whether you’re completely new to the sport or an experienced bowler, we’d love to hear from you.

A special mention to Eddie Totten, Tom McGurk (Junior), Twor Rainey and Paul Kirk — players to contact for further information.

We weathered the storm of the pandemic and are now forging ahead with confidence and enthusiasm. 💪🎳

🏛️ 130 YEARS OF HISTORY – THE NORTH CLUB

From 1893 to today… our story continues. ❤️

Established in 1893, The North Club has been at the heart of our local community for over 130 years.

Lady Harland laid our foundation stone, and our historic main building remains an important part of the area’s heritage. The Bowling section was established in 1914, with the green following soon afterwards.

For generations, the Club has been a place where friendship, recreation and community spirit could flourish. Originally a proud Working Men’s Club, it has continued to provide a welcoming, non-political and non-sectarian environment for members and the wider community.

Today, there’s still plenty happening at The North Club, including our Darts Club, Pool & Snooker Club and Bowling facilities.

⚽ LIVE SPORT AT THE CLUB
Enjoy the big games with friends, with our TV sports packages bringing major sporting events into the Club — including FA matches and much more.

🎯 DARTS • POOL • SNOOKER • BOWLING • LIVE SPORT

And there’s always something to look forward to with our weekly promotions and special offers, making the Club a great place to meet, socialise and enjoy the atmosphere.

🎉 130 years of memories.
🤝 Generations of friendship.
🏛️ A building full of history.
❤️ A Club with a future.

Today, we remain committed to serving our community while working to preserve and improve our historic Club for future generations.

Here’s to our past, our present and our future. 🥂
