Hi All.
How is everyone? Ok I hope.
Winter seems to be starting to turn up, Cold, Windy, Dark and Damp. Bloody Wonderful. Well the bonus is it`s not Freezing yet.
We have that to look forward too. Plus the Halloween Quiz at The Village Hall on Saturday (1st). Beaujolais Nouveau Day (20th).
Nearly forgot The Budget (26th). Maria and I are going to London
to see "Stranger Things", our highlight for November. (Thank You, Richard.) Now the main reason for this post.
As you all are aware. We offer Sunday Roasts every Sunday.
Now due to in staff and workload issues these will only be offered
on Sundays which fall on a odd date. (1st, 3rd, 5th etc) All present bookings are unaffected. This is as of this Sunday, being the 2nd.
Sorry about this, but needs must.
Right, Need to get on, so.

25 Years ago today, opened the door of
The Crown, Little Staughton for the first time.
Who can believe that I would be saying this now?
Should have started writing a book. Would be a
Best Seller without a doubt.
The Crown Little Staughton, little pub, big heart.
More gossip spread than in The Rovers Return and
more rubbish spoken than in The Queen Vic.
Who would want things any different?
We could not have achieved this feat without you all.

Hi All,
Just a quick one, The Crown is looking for help in the kitchen. We are trying to find someone who can help in all areas of the Kitchen.
The time has come for myself Kevin, to move back to front of house. Nothing will change, food wise, and I will still only be yards from the kitchen. If you are interested please call and have a chat.

As far as everything else goes, all is well. Starting to plan for the cold spell. These coming months are by far the hardest ones of the year. The shooting season begins, and everyone slowly gets into the Xmas mode. I wonder why sometimes, as it is over before you know it. There I go Old Bar Humbug coming out. I know what, lets move on. Next Friday the 3rd October for all you who cannot remember, or were not around. Twenty Five Years at The Crown.
Not a bad feat, if I say so myself. I could not have done it without
Maria, and she would not have done it without Me. Been a real
headache over the years, sometimes could cry, sometimes could scream, even felt like killing on more than one occasion. Well,
"That`s Life" as they say, and "Time Heals". My fingers are crossed,
Stopped Crying, the Screaming is under control and that leaves the Killing (With that I claim the 5th).
Joke`s aside, as things are now it`s all good. (Yes I know it`s Tuesday and we are shut). We have a laugh and joke, Maria loves to chat and all is going to plan. That says it all, Twenty five years and still have plans, will never be finished.

Hello All, Enjoying the Weather?
It`s Bloody Great.
I`ve been meaning to post this for a few weeks now, but just have not had the time.
I must start by going back to that Saturday in March.
The 1st to be exact, I am brewing, Maria is pottering about.
Our Clare turns up with Kayleigh and Harper, well it is our
Wedding Anniversary. Opens up at 3, normally quiet for the 1st hour or so. A few come in, "What you doing about ?" Maria asks.
Litter Picking is the reply. Then a few more, and a few more.
"Kevin you need to get in here and help, the place is packed".
In I come, dressed for brewing not serving. What the heck,
these do not look like they have been Litter Picking. At which point Mary make her speech and leads everyone in a chorus of They are Jolly Good Fellows. Clare is nearly in tears, how sweet she says as she films it on her phone. Did we not know or suspect something was going on everyone asks. No we never did and to think this was being planned under our noses for weeks, all we can say in none of you can be Trusted. Jokes aside, we were moved. Thanks to everyone and do not forget, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd.
Party Weekend. 50 years Married and 25 years in The Crown.

Sunday dinners are going really well, Thank You to all the New and Returning Diners. Please remember bookings are required.
Thursday, Friday and Saturdays can be hectic also, so again please Book. I would like to add when booking please consider when you phone and why. We do no Open Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the moment, hence a call at 9.45 pm to book a table for a date 4 weeks away is inconvenient to us. I would return the call at our earliest convenience, most likely time being about 3am Thursdays while waiting at Billingsgate. Get me Drift.
As with the opening hours, there is a limit to what we can do.
We are and always are looking for staff. That is the hardest part of running a Pub in the sticks, Staff. In town, stick up a sign Staff Wanted and away you go, not out here. So are you looking
for an opportunity to earn and enjoy the social life that goes with working in a country pub, give us a call. Do not be put off because you feel too old or you have no experience, neither is an issue.
Any thoughts, give Maria or Myself a call. Maria would be more than happy to chat as ever.

Hi All have a good Xmas?
Not long now and can begin to get the days back in order.
Lost count of the amount of time Maria has asked, What day is it today. Must admit been the same myself, but can `t ask Maria , she don`t know.
Right update on this weeks hours.
Tomorrow, New Years Eve.
We open at 12 noon and plan on closing at 6pm
Wednesday New Years Day.
The same open at 12 noon and close at 6pm.
Thursday 2nd Closed all Day.
Now Friday 3rd Closed Lunchtime, Open 5pm -10pm.
That`s it, after Friday all back to normal.
So as of Saturday 4th January
Saturdays 3pm -10pm, Cooking 5 till 8pm. (Baskets)
Sundays 12 noon - 8pm, Roasts 12 till 3pm.
Mondays 5pm - 8pm, (Unless there is a Quiz).
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Closed.
Thursdays 5pm - 10pm, Cooking 5 till 8pm. (Baskets)
Friday 12 - 2pm 5 -10pm, Cooking 12 -1.30 & 5 - 8pm.( Baskets)
We know Closing Tuesdays and Wednesdays may seem odd,
However some of these days have resulted with takings of £45.
Open at 5 till 8pm (3 hours), cost of sales, electric etc. Sorry but, really is not worth it.
Sunday Roasts resume as of this Sunday 5th
Would like to say thank you to everyone who has joined us for a Sunday Roast. We are getting new customers every week, which is great. However, Repeat Customers say it all, Thank You.
(Just a little Pun, must be Goodenough). So please keep booking.
Fresh Fish will return on Thursday 9th.
So with all that said let us wish you all a Happy New Year,
and hopefully see you in 2025.

Good afternoon everybody, I am afraid we will not be having Fish and chips or Prawns at The Crown this week ,as Kevin is ill with either Flu or covid ,not sure which but he is feeling very unwell so will not be going to Billingsgate in the morning. If anyone has booked a table or takeaway already we apologize, but it can not be helped I am afraid. We will be open as normal for drinks and a small limited menu. So that means there will be no fish until the 9th of January. Thanks for your understanding.

When are we open over this Festive Period.
So tempted to say We`re Not, but Maria say`s No.
No Really all, normal as best could be at The Crown up
to Sunday 22nd.
Monday 23rd- Closed
Tuesday 24th- Xmas Eve Open 5pm till ?
Wednesday 25th - Xmas Day 12 noon -2pm.
Thursday 26th - Boxing Day 12 noon - 6pm.
Friday 27th - 4pm -10pm.
Saturday 28th - 3pm - 10pm.
Sunday 29th - CLOSED.
Monday 30th - CLOSED.
Tuesday 31st - New Years Eve 12 Noon- 6pm.
Wednesday 1st - New Years Day 12 noon - 6pm.
Thursday 2nd - CLOSED
Friday 3rd - 5-10pm (My Birthday)
Saturday 4th - Hopefully Back to Normal.

No Meals will be served on any of the above days,
Except for Baskets on Fri 27th& Sat 28th and Fri 3rd.

Last Night for Fish being Saturday the 21st and will resume on Thursday the 9th January.
Sunday Roasts will cease on the 22nd and resume on the 5th
January. I will promise you all, No Turkey will be served.

These Opening Hours are based on last years Xmas trading trends.

We would like to Thank You all for your support over the last 12 months, and look forward to the next 12 months.

Hi All,
How are you all? Well I hope.
That`s it now, the clocks have gone back. It`s Dark, Damp and Leaves everywhere. Really do not like this time of the year.
All this has an effect on business, not to mention the
B word. Fed up with it all, some people have not got a clue.
Use a bit more common sense and logic and things might improve.
Right Kevin, stop there before you get carried away.
The Crown, the reason I am posting this.
We are going to be serving Sunday Roasts as of 10th November.
We will open at 12 .00 and Serve from 12.30 till 3.00. We will require bookings in advance to guarantee. Tables of 4 booked up to 2pm will be able to sit in the bar. I know people are not in favour of booking, but it is the only way we will be able to do this to start with. Any questions give us a call.
Secondly, due to the way things are going and the workload behind the scenes. It has become unviable to continue opening on a Wednesday Evening. Steaks have slowed down and takings on average of £80 sometimes is just not on. We are sorry to The Book Club and everyone else that do support us on Wednesdays, but no can do. perhaps Book Club on Thursdays. Sorry.
