TONIGHT AT BARNOLDSWICK M&A
SOUTHERN ROCK DOESN’T GET MUCH MORE REAL THAN THIS!

WARNER E. HODGES INTERNATIONAL ALL STAR BAND

Some bands are put together. Some bands evolve.

And then occasionally FIVE ABSOLUTE ROCK ’N’ ROLL LIFERS walk onto the same stage and all hell breaks loose.

This is the REAL BLOODLINE OF AMERICAN ROCK ’N’ ROLL — musicians whose collective history runs through JASON & THE SCORCHERS • THE GEORGIA SATELLITES • DAN BAIRD & HOMEMADE SIN • HANOI ROCKS • ELECTRIC BOYS • THE BOTTLE ROCKETS • BONAFIDE and beyond.

At the centre of the storm is Nashville guitar outlaw WARNER E. HODGES — the six-string firebrand from Jason & The Scorchers who helped smash country, punk and rock ’n’ roll together years before anybody thought of calling it Americana.

Think HANK WILLIAMS colliding head-on with THE RAMONES, then throw in the guitar firepower of AC/DC, Southern Rock, barroom boogie and Nashville honky-tonk and you’re beginning to get somewhere close.

This is a TRANSATLANTIC SOUTHERN ROCK JUGGERNAUT.

And a great, dirty, glorious, NO-BULLSH*T ROCK ’N’ ROLL.

These guys have shared stages and musical history with names including BOB DYLAN • STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN • THE RAMONES • R.E.M. • CARL PERKINS • DAN BAIRD • HANOI ROCKS • THE GEORGIA SATELLITES and countless others.

Between them we're talking about DECADES AND DECADES OF TOUR BUSES, FESTIVAL FIELDS, SWEATY CLUBS, RECORDING STUDIOS AND THOUSANDS OF NIGHTS ON THE ROAD.

Plug in. Turn up. Hold on tight.

THE ALBUM THAT CHANGED BRITISH ROCK — 60 YEARS ON, THE BEANO IS BACK!

SONNY FLINT’S BEANO BLUESBREAKERS ARE COMING TO BARNOLDSWICK MUSIC & ARTS CENTRE!

This is a celebration of one of the most important records in British rock history.

In 1966, John Mayall’s Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton — forever known as THE BEANO ALBUM — changed EVERYTHING.

ERIC CLAPTON. GIBSON LES PAUL. MARSHALL AMPLIFIER. JOHN MAYALL. JOHN McVIE. HUGHIE FLINT.

That combination created a sound that helped ignite the great British blues explosion and paved the way for CREAM, FLEETWOOD MAC, LED ZEPPELIN and generations of blues-rock guitarists that followed.

Now, for its 60TH ANNIVERSARY, that legendary record is being brought roaring back to life by SONNY FLINT’S BEANO BLUESBREAKERS — and this one comes with some serious pedigree.

SONNY FLINT is the son of HUGHIE FLINT — the ORIGINAL DRUMMER ON THE BEANO ALBUM.

Vocalist and harmonica player LAINE HINES is the son of DENNY LAINE of The Moody Blues and Wings.

Guitarist NEIL ROBERTS has spent years immersed in the music and tone of Eric Clapton and has worked alongside legendary Cream lyricist Pete Brown.

Keyboard player RICK PENTECOST has spent some 20 YEARS working with PAUL McCARTNEY as a professional piano tuner.

And saxophonist GREG HEATH brings an extraordinary CV featuring work with names including DR. JOHN, MACEO PARKER, VAN MORRISON, ROY AYERS, MICA PARIS, MARIANNE FAITHFULL, JOAN ARMATRADING, GENO WASHINGTON and many more.

And if you need any further indication of how seriously this band is being taken, Sonny Flint’s Beano Bluesbreakers have been confirmed as main support for former John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers guitarist WALTER TROUT.

This is THE BEANO ALBUM performed LIVE, plus material from the original Bluesbreakers live set — vintage Gibsons, Marshalls, harmonica, Hammond, sax and that unmistakable mid-'60s British blues sound.

SAME MUSIC. SAME ATTITUDE. SAME BLOODLINE.

If you love Eric Clapton, John Mayall, Cream, Peter Green, Fleetwood Mac, Walter Trout, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher or simply the sound of a Les Paul screaming through a Marshall…

YOU REALLY DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS.

HARRY HUDSON TAYLOR — LIVE AT BARNOLDSWICK VERY SOON!

This is one for anyone who still believes that a great song, a great voice and a guitar can stop you dead in your tracks. Harry Hudson Taylor is heading to Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre VERY SOON, bringing with him the songs, stories and glorious harmonies that have made the Hudson Taylor name so loved by audiences across the UK, Ireland and beyond.

Born into a musical family in Dublin, Harry and his brother Alfie built Hudson Taylor the old-fashioned way — busking the streets, writing songs, playing anywhere that would have them and gradually turning those street-corner harmonies into packed venues, major festival appearances and millions of streams. Their beautifully crafted blend of folk, rock, pop and acoustic Americana earned them a fiercely loyal following, with songs including “Chasing Rubies,” “Weapons,” “Battles” and “Feel It Again” becoming firm favourites.

Now Harry Hudson Taylor brings that songwriting right into the heart of our tiny capacity listening room at Barnoldswick. A seriously gifted songwriter and performer, up close and personal, in the kind of room where you can hear every breath, every guitar string and every word.

If you love Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, Simon & Garfunkel, Mumford & Sons, early Ed Sheeran or simply beautifully written songs delivered with honesty and soul, get yourself to this one.
These are the nights Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre was built for. Great artists. Tiny room. Proper music.

DON’T WAIT UNTIL EVERYONE STARTS TALKING ABOUT IT AFTERWARDS. GET YOUR TICKET AND BE IN THE ROOM.

SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL IS COMING TO BARNOLDSWICK…

There are some songs that don’t simply remind you of a time and place — they become part of your life.

The music of James Taylor has been doing exactly that for more than half a century. Fire and Rain, You’ve Got a Friend, Carolina in My Mind, Sweet Baby James, Shower the People… songs filled with warmth, honesty, heartache and that unmistakable laid-back acoustic magic.

And now we’re delighted to announce something rather special…

AN EVENING OF JAMES TAYLOR PERFORMED BY JOE MARTIN

Coming to the wonderfully intimate surroundings of Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre on Tuesday 13th October 2026.

This isn't about wigs, costumes or impersonation.

It's about the songs.

Joe Martin will take us through the beautiful James Taylor songbook in the way this music deserves to be heard — up close, stripped back and personal, where every lyric, every chord and every story has room to breathe.

Think autumn evenings, old guitars, warm harmonies and songs that somehow feel like old friends you've known all your life.

If you've ever put on a James Taylor record at the end of a long day and thought, “Yep… that's exactly what I needed,” this evening is for you.

TICKETS GO ON SALE TONIGHT AT 7PM Subscribe on this link so that you dont miss it https://www.barnoldswickmusicandartscentre.com/sign-up-for-updates

Just 60 people in our little listening room. No arena. No distance between performer and audience. Just great songs, beautifully played.

"Won't you look down upon me, Jesus…"

We have a feeling this one might find its audience rather quickly.

TOMORROW AFTERNOON — WORLD-CLASS JAZZ IN BARNOLDSWICK!

SUNDAY 6th SEPTEMBER
ADRIAN COX TRIO – THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF BECHET
Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre
Doors 12.30pm | On Stage 1.30pm

If you think the words “traditional jazz” mean something polite, safe and stuck in the past, think again.

Tomorrow afternoon we welcome three quite exceptional musicians who are taking the spirit, swing and sheer excitement of New Orleans jazz and firing it straight into the 21st century.

And when we say these guys are good, we mean SERIOUSLY GOOD.

ADRIAN COX – CLARINET & VOCALS
Adrian Cox isn't simply a fine clarinettist — he's regarded as one of the leading contemporary exponents of the New Orleans clarinet tradition.

He started playing clarinet at just six years old, was gigging by 12 and by 15 had left home to become a professional musician. Since then he's built an international career steeped in jazz, blues, funk and ska, with New Orleans jazz at its heart.

Adrian has performed with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra in London and New York, was a member of the brilliant Kansas Smitty's House Band, and has appeared at the Royal Albert Hall alongside artists including Paloma Faith, Guy Barker and Clare Teal.

Jamie Cullum has described him as “indisputably one of the great clarinetists of the world,” while Time Out called him “London's most charismatic reedsman.”

That's the level we're talking about.

HONEY BOULTON – GUITAR & VOCALS

Then there's the phenomenal New Zealand-born Honey Boulton — guitarist, banjo player and composer, and one of the fascinating younger musicians bringing genuine swing and bebop into today's jazz scene.

Honey graduated from the New Zealand School of Music with a BMus (Hons), specialising in swing and bebop guitar, before becoming deeply involved in the London jazz scene. His musical world stretches from Charlie Parker and Wes Montgomery through bebop, blues and classic swing — but crucially, he isn't simply recreating yesterday's music. He's writing new music from inside that tradition.

His 2024 album Honey Plays Boulton features ten original compositions, and his playing has already earned one hell of an endorsement from Jamie Cullum:

“Everything about this swings.”

Honey has worked with some formidable contemporary jazz names including Giacomo Smith, Georgia Cécile, Joe Webb, Snorre Kirk and Deschanel Gordon.

ALEX GILSON – DOUBLE BASS & VOCALS

Holding the whole thing together is Parisian double bassist Alex Gilson — an absolutely crucial part of the chemistry of this trio.

Gilson isn't there merely to keep time. His double bass gives this music its pulse, weight and movement, creating that wonderful rhythmic conversation between bass, Boulton's guitar and Cox's soaring clarinet.

And this isn't a hastily assembled touring band. Cox, Boulton and Gilson are a genuine working trio, touring internationally and recording together. Their new BECHET recording was made in Copenhagen in April 2026 and released in May, with all three musicians appearing on the sessions.

Together they have toured the music internationally, taking this wonderfully stripped-back combination of clarinet, guitar and double bass around Europe and considerably further afield.

AND TOMORROW THEY COME TO BARNOLDSWICK.

Their show THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF BECHET celebrates the extraordinary legacy of Sidney Bechet — one of the giants and true pioneers of New Orleans jazz — exploring his influence as clarinettist, saxophonist, composer and recording artist through music including the beautiful “Si Tu Vois Ma Mère” and “Summertime.”
Three magnificent musicians, three voices, three instruments and a century of jazz history brought roaring back to life in one of the most intimate rooms you're ever likely to experience them in.

You'll be close enough to see every finger move, hear every breath through Adrian's clarinet and feel Alex's double bass moving the air in the room.

If you love New Orleans, Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong, swing, blues, hot jazz — or simply watching truly exceptional musicians at the top of their game — DO NOT MISS THIS.

This is exactly what Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre is all about.

And an afternoon you may be talking about for a very long time.

SEE YOU TOMORROW!

NOW THIS HAS JUST MADE AN ALREADY SPECIAL NIGHT EVEN MORE SPECIAL!

PETER BARTON & SIMON HOUGH TO PERFORM A VERY SPECIAL OPENING SMOKIE SET SUPPORTING THE LEGENDARY VANITY FARE!

When Vanity Fare hit Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre, they’ll now be joined by Peter Barton and Simon Hough (ex-Big Country) for a very special opening set celebrating the timeless music of SMOKIE.

And there’s a genuine connection behind it...

When original founding Smokie guitarist Alan Silson left Smokie in the 1990s, he later teamed up with Pete and Simon. Together they toured internationally, performing those fabulous Smokie songs to audiences around the world.

So this isn’t simply a couple of musicians knocking out a few Smokie covers. Pete and Simon actually stood on stages alongside Alan Silson and performed this music with one of the men who helped create that unmistakable Smokie sound.

For one night in Barnoldswick, they’re going to revisit some of those memories with an intimate opening set packed with classic Smokie songs before multi-million-record-selling VANITY FARE take over the stage with those glorious harmonies and hits including “Hitchin’ a Ride,” “Early in the Morning,” “I Live for the Sun” and more.

AND THERE ARE ONLY 18 TICKETS LEFT!

If the music of Vanity Fare AND Smokie formed part of the soundtrack to your life, this really is one of those wonderfully nostalgic little nights that you DO NOT WANT TO MISS.

THEY WRITE GREAT SONGS.

Their Holy Cow! album produced the Number 1 iTunes blues single “One Man Band”, while the album itself topped the blues charts on both Amazon and iTunes.

Their albums have brought them award nominations, chart success and a fiercely loyal following — but it's onstage where The Milk Men really earn their reputation.

They've ripped it up at blues and rock festivals across Britain, including The Great British Rock & Blues Festival, Colne, Upton, Swanage, Blackpool, Carlisle and many more.

And then there's MILKFEST — their own celebration of British blues at London's indigo at The O2, raising thousands of pounds for charity while bringing together some of the cream of the UK blues scene.

And now they're coming back to one of the smallest and most intimate venues they'll play...

“The finest rockin' rhythm'n'blues band in the country.”
— Blues in Britain Magazine

“Brilliant – there aren't many better exponents of blues rock than The Milk Men.”
