Important update
After a lot of thought, I’ve made the decision to step away from the Banbury Cross and focus more on my personal life and my other business commitments. Running two pubs at the same time is incredibly demanding, and sometimes you have to take a step back and make the decision that’s best long term.
The Banbury Cross is a great venue with a lot of character, and I genuinely believe it still has huge potential. Unfortunately, since 2022 it has struggled to regain the levels of trade it once had. Like any business, it ultimately has to be financially viable, and despite our best efforts, the income simply hasn’t been enough to justify the extremely high running costs and the level of investment still required.
We’ve put a lot into the pub — time, money, refurbishments, improvements, and plenty of hard work — and I’m proud of what we achieved with a Grade II listed building that comes with its own challenges. Fridays and Saturdays have been fantastic, but sadly the quieter days through the week make long-term sustainability very difficult.
This decision definitely hasn’t been made lightly, but sometimes in business you have to be realistic and weigh up what makes sense for the future.
That said, we are still here for the foreseeable future and this is simply to let everyone know that the pub is now back up to let. Until somebody takes it on, we’ll still be trading, still hosting events, and we fully intend on making the most of the time we have left here. We’ll also be hosting a massive World Cup party and giving everyone a proper send-off while keeping the atmosphere alive right until the end 🍻⚽
I would like to personally thank Wells for there continued support and assistance during our tenure
I want to thank everyone who has supported us, came in for a drink, attended events, or backed us along the way. Your support genuinely has meant a lot.
