North Devon Jazz Club meets at The Beaver Inn, Appledore featuring the best of UK and international contemporary jazz.

North Devon Jazz Club gigs at The Beaver start at 8.30 pm on selected Mondays (usually every two weeks). The UK's finest contemporary jazz musicians (and also musicians from abroad) appear regularly at this superb venue on the Torridge Estuary in the picturesque old fishing and shipbuilding village of Appledore. The Club has been running for over twenty years, having started in Barnstaple and then moved to The Palladium Club in Bideford before reaching its present home at The Beaver, Appledore. Amongst the top musicians and bands performing at the Club have been Gilad Atzmon, Peter King, Christine Tobin, Julian Segal, Phil Robson, Sarah Jane Morris, Laura Jurd, Bruce Adams, Sarah Gillespie, Julian Arguelles, Jim Mullen, Polar Bear and many, many more. Gigs (usually every two weeks) start at 8.30 p.m. and entry is free, but a collection is taken for the musicians. It was great to see Harry Dowell back at the Jazz Club, this time with his own dynamic young band, playing many of his own compositions. We're looking forward to to CD coming out next year! Harry Dowell was on saxophones (and occasionally guitar, Ozzie Parker on piano, Frazer Kerslake, double bass and Josh Rose, drums.

There was a brilliant night of contemporary jazz on Monday with band leader, composer, pianist and singer Fabienne Ambuehl and her Quartet. They heavily featured her latest album 'Thrive' which won Jazz Recording of The Year at the 2025 Presto Music Awards. We were really treated to some top musicians in the quartet, amazing guitarist Ant Law, multi-award winning bassist Ewan Hastie and excellent drummer Jon Scott.

Brilliant last night of our season with BD Lenz Trio! These guys from New Jersey have fit us into their European tour for the last few years and we love having them play! BD Lenz - guitar, James Rosocha - bass and Joe Falcey - drums.
