A traditional coaching inn in the heart of Hawkshead village open daily offering a tempting range of homemade pub meals for breakfast, lunch, or a hearty evening meal – perhaps even just a cuppa. We offer hand pulled cask beer from local brewers, premium lagers, ciders and bottled craft beers to tempt you amongst a great selection of wines and spirits from around the world to enjoy in front of one of our roaring log fires or in our sunny garden! Our hotel boasts of cosy en-suite bedrooms overlooking the cobbles and crooked narrow streets of the historic village and just a stone’s throw away from Ambleside and the Lake District.

Just some ideas for a half term in the Lake District 🍂

🎃 With Halloween around the corner there is plenty of spooky activities for little ones and adults to enjoy.

☔️ The weather is a little bit wet & miserable so we have some recommendations for rainy day activities to keep everyone entertained.

🥾 If you pack your waterproofs and wrap up warm you can still get out to enjoy the Lake District. We’ve suggested some good walks that the whole family can enjoy and blow away the cobwebs.

🍽️ Don’t forget after your adventures exploring the Lake District you can come and sit by our fire and warm yourself with a pub lunch or dinner.
