I have been looking for the right words since Saturday.
Two years ago, we opened the doors of our estate for the very first Ligue des Dégustateurs de Spiritueux blind tasting competition, a small, beautiful thing built from scratch by Luc and Valentin ( and .robsonkanu), simply because they believed this community deserved to exist.

What they have built since then is extraordinary, and we are proud to support it. Not because it is good for business, but because it is good for cognac, and good for the people who love spirits.
This year, Jean entered.
Blind tasting at this level is brutal: no labels, no context, no safety net. Just the glass, your nose, your palate, and your reputation.
And on Saturday, across multiple categories, Jean came out Vice-Champion de France.
I am so proud of my husband, who happens to be our cellar master, blender, and the man who has always taught me that the good things take time, attention, and courage!

Merci Luc, merci Valentin. What you are building matters deeply!

🇫🇷 Dans le monde du cognac, il existe des personnalités singulières. Joël Rateau est indéniablement l’une d’elles.

Joël et Annie, sa femme, sont des amis de longue date de ma famille. Je l’ai rencontré pour la première fois il y a une vingtaine d’années. À l’époque, mon père m’avait conseillé d’aller voir Joël, le distillateur aux “réveils”.

Intrigué, je me suis rendu à la distillerie du Maine Frugier par une froide journée de janvier. Lorsque j’ai évoqué cette histoire de réveils, une étincelle s’est immédiatement allumée dans les yeux de Joël…

If you ask me who my favorite couple in Cognac is, the answer is actually pretty easy (sorry to everyone else! ;)). Amy and Jean haven't just welcomed us into their cellars and home multiple times—they were also the very first producers we ever visited with the Grape of the Art team back in summer 2021!

Jean took over the family farm in 2011, and Amy joined him in 2017. Together, they produce fantastic organic Cognac on 15 hectares and also grow F***e Blanche grapes! A true rarity in the Cognac region, even more so than in Armagnac!

In addition, they are easily one of the very best independent bottler of Cognac out there! They have an incredible nose for unearthing exceptional casks in old cellars and releasing them with full transparency in their "Trésors de Famille" series. Many of their releases are still among my all-time favorites (André Lot 73!!!).

We are extremely proud to feature 20 of their releases in our shop! Among them are some truly old and rare gems. Happy hunting!

We were heartbroken to learn of the passing of Thomas, Thomas Cognac, to so many in our world.

Through his blog, Cognac & Cotognata, the only Italian blog entirely dedicated to cognac, he created something truly special. He gave Italian enthusiasts a place to learn, to discover, and to fall in love with this spirit. His writing was thoughtful, precise, and always driven by genuine passion. He shared what he knew generously, never to impress, but to connect.

Thomas was not just a blogger. He was a bridge between cultures, between producers and enthusiasts, between bottles and the people who open them. His curiosity was sincere, his palate sharp, and his enthusiasm contagious.

But beyond all of that, he was simply a deeply charming and kind man. Conversations with him were always warm, intelligent, and full of that sparkle in his eye when he spoke about a beautiful glass of cognac.

Our community has lost a true ambassador.
We raise a glass to you, Thomas. Thank you for everything you shared with us. You will be greatly missed. 🥃
