🎧 ALBUM OF THE WEEK 🎧

Benedikt Jahnel Trio: The Invariant (ECM • 2017)

Come around and listen to our selected albums of international artists of our Berlin-based community on high-end speakers – with a drink in your hand, obviously…

• The Concept of the Invariant: The album's title is derived from a mathematical concept—a quantity that remains unchanged under a transformation. For the pianist and mathematician Benedikt Jahnel, who holds a doctorate, the trio itself represents a fixed, unchanging entity (an "invariant") spanning a ten-year history of the band.
• Contributors & Credits: The recordings took place in March 2016 at Rainbow Studio in Oslo, engineered by Jan Erik Kongshaug. The album was produced by Manfred Eicher. Sascha Kleis was responsible for the cover design, and the photography in the booklet is by Arne Reimer.
