The Olive Press was inspired by the olive harvest season — a tradition that, for generations, has brought families, neighbours and entire villages together around the land.
This workshop brings that spirit of gathering into Toronto through art. Together, we’ll create one collective piece using paint, pressing, stitching, thread and texture, guided by reflections on memory, belonging, resilience and connection.
We’ll crack olives, share food and music, create, talk and reconnect — keeping a tradition alive even when we are miles away from the land it comes from.
The workshop is conceived and facilitated by Lebanese-Canadian artist and designer Lynn Kain, whose work explores memory, identity, belonging and connection to place, with a special live oud performance by Hinad Al Shuhuf.
Different hands. Same ground. A shared imprint.
