The Gaelic Club Irish culture in the heart of Sydney. Find us through the green doors and up the stairs at 1/64 Devonshire Street, Surry Hills.

The Gaelic Club is a place for live entertainment, teaching of traditional music, dance and the Irish language. It has a licensed bar, dance floor, kitchen and meeting room, which members and guests can use and book for functions.

Get along to the Gaelic Club to round out the week with another Fabulous TRAD Friday session.

Tara Canny comes from Rathmore, Co Meath. She has been playing whistle and flute since she was 5. She grew up playing with her local Comhaltas Branch CCร‰ Tlachtga, where she also enjoyed teaching music before moving to Sydney. She is loving playing in the lively Sydney music scene.

Mary Therese Coughlan from Skibbereen, West Cork, has been playing the fiddle since the age of 4. She has travelled all over the world playing music and has won numerous awards at county, Munster, and all-Ireland levels in Fleadh Cheoils and various other competitions.

It will be a lively one!

๐Ÿ€ The Gaelic Club is a small community run bar that operates out of the Irish Cultural Centre in Surry Hills. We are open every Friday night for our FRIDAY TRAD session and many Saturdays for public concerts and private events.

๐Ÿ€ We are looking for 1-2 casual bar staff to fill our Friday and Saturday night roster.

๐Ÿ€ We are also looking for the right person to fill the role of Bar Manager.

The Bar Manager role is a low key management role that includes working behind the bar during opening and extra hours for admin and management duties. The bar manager role is approximately 16 hours per week + optional extra hours for events.

Sรญofra hails from Foxford, Co. Mayo. Coming from a musical family, Sรญofra has been immersed in traditional Irish Music from a young age. She has toured internationally and been featured numerous times on the Fleadh programme on RTE, Fleadh live, TG4 Geantraรญ, Comhaltas live, and recorded for Dublin's national traditional music archive.

Siofra is joined by fellow fiddler Aoife Trench.

Itโ€™s Fri-yay and that means community, tunes, chats and a cold creamy Guinness.

Tomorrow night, The Gaelic Club will be hosting a special 'Jersey Night' alongside their regular Friday night Trad Sessions.

Led by the fantastic Ferdie Whelan on piano and concertina and the multi-talented Sean Nรณs dancer Ailbhe Nรญ Dhabharรกin (also on concertina), they invite you to wear your county colours tomorrow night and join in the fun!

JACK and MEL go up the Surry HILL!

Jack Conrick is a fiddle and concertina player from Canberra, Australia, who grew up in a musical family with parents who play and teach Irish music. Named after a close family friend and well-loved fiddle player of the Canberra Irish music scene, Jack Canny โ€” brother of the well-known Paddy Canny โ€” Jack began playing at a young age and carries that influence in his music today. He plays regularly at festivals and sessions across the country.

Now residing in County Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, Mel is Western Sydney bred and polished up in Canberra. Mel has been part of the Australian folk scene for decades - and has been playing banjo for just as long.

Expect a welcoming, inclusive session vibe, a groove that gets your feet tapping and harmonies that are easy on the ear.

Join us for an end of week pint, a chat and tunes.

Seรกn Griffin and Ferdie Whelan

Ferdie is a traditional Irish piano and concertina player from Loughrea, Co Galway. He comes from a musical family and has been immersed in trad music from a young age. He has taught at various workshops and has played at Fleadhs and in sessions across Ireland.

Seรกn is a whistle player and singer from Ennis Co. Clare. He found a love for Irish traditional music and culture at a very young age in Ennis and Doolin. He plays frequently in sessions all around Ireland and is a regular on the Irish music scene in Sydney.
