It was in tribute to Neale Daniher, prominent campaigner for Fight MND and Australian of the Year, who's funeral commemoration was yesterday.

We recently reported that we had discovered that a song had been written about the Lilydale RSL by the comedy trio 'Aunty Donna'.
It seems the song appears in an episode of their ABC comedy series 'Aunty Donna's Cafe' where the Lilydale RSL gets a mention.
We're not sure what inspired this but are happy to take the publicity - thanks Aunty Donna!!

Did you know there has been a song written and recorded about the 'Lilydale RSL'?
Neither did we.

It is by a comedy group - Aunty Donna - who had a series on the ABC for a while.
They are a very surreal comedy group - a cross between the Three Stooges and the Young Ones!

It appears on their album from 3 years ago 'Aunty Donna's Cafe' along with other classic songs such as 'The Blueberry Burglar', 'Welcome to Morning Brown' and 'Cowboy and the Frog'.

We have no idea why they have recorded a song about us.
It is mainly a techno instrumental with the words 'Lilydale RSL' spoken in the middle.

Congratulations to Lilydale RSL members, John O'Donoghue (treasurer) & Jimmy Slattery (bar manager), who were today presented with a Casey Community Awards by Aaron Violi MP, the federal member for Casey, for all their hard work and dedication volunteering for the Lilydale RSL Sub-branch.
Also, well done to Chris McAleer from Veterans For Fishing who also received an award.

Today members of the Lilydale RSL joined with family and friends of the late Steve Shortis to celebrate his life.
Steve was a Vietnam veteran and a long time president of the Yarra Glen RSL.
The president, executive and members of the Lilydale RSL send our condolences to his family.

Yesterday the Lilydale RSL was very proud to launch our latest local military history publication - 'Asian Encounters - Volume 5 - The Shire of Lillydale & its Military Heritage - 1945 to 1970' by Anthony McAleer OAM.
We were also very proud to have present at the event so many ex-service people - veterans of the three services who served from the 1950s through to present day.
