The Royal Oak Hotel is a generational place; stories and legends have been made, and continue to be made, within its interior. Emerging Tasmanian singer-songwriter Hosanna Grace is joining us this Thursday for a FREE evening of live music in the Front Bar.

Blending folk, rock, blues and pop with Irish musical influences, Hosanna brings a distinctive sound to her original songwriting.

With singles including New World, Warning Sounds and Masquerade, and performances at Tasmanian venues and festivals including Dark M**o, she's an emerging artist well worth getting to know.

A pint-sized celebration? We'll drink to that!

It's International Pint Day, and we're raising a glass to one of life's great pleasures. A beautifully poured pint in a proper pub.

At the Oak, we're rather particular about our b**r. We clean our lines twice a week, keep a cracking selection of local Tasmanian brews on tap alongside some excellent mainland and international favourites, and believe a good b**r deserves to be served properly.

And what better place to enjoy one than Launceston's longest continuously licensed pub? We've been in the business of bringing people together since 1844, and a good pint has always been a pretty convincing reason.

So gather your mates, pull up a stool and give this most noble of drinking vessels the appreciation it deserves.

Here's to good b**r, good company and the humble pint. Long may it reign!

Sides 5eva!

Who says the main event has to be a main course? We're firm believers in making a meal of the little things.

Our sides and small plates change with the seasons, depending on what's looking good, what's growing locally and what chef reckons deserves a spot on the menu.

What's good right now? Honey-glazed Dutch carrots, cracked and fried pink eye potatoes with cashew sour cream, golden onion rings with chipotle, sautéed greens with lemon and olive oil, and mushroom arancini served on sugo with parmesan and micro herbs.

Or get stuck into some cashew pâté with potato crisps, warmed olives with lemon and herbs, or a generous bowl of skin-on fries.

Order a few, share them around, order a few more. We won't judge if you keep the best bits to yourself.

A fresh face at the Oak this Wednesday!

Northern Tasmanian musician Warren Paul is joining us in the Front Bar for an evening of soul, acoustic pop and well-loved favourites.

Warren performs across the local music scene as a solo artist, in acoustic duos and with his band The Locals. His repertoire covers everything from soulful melodies to familiar songs you can't help singing along to.

This Wednesday, he's flying solo and bringing his acoustic sound to our little pub.

And as always, our midweek live music is absolutely FREE!

Alex Lloyd // Watching Angels Mend 25th anniversary tour 🎶

Remember where you were when you first heard Amazing?

It's been 25 years since Alex Lloyd released Watching Angels Mend, the album that gave us some of the most memorable songs in Australian music.

Amazing. Green. Everybody's Laughing.

Now Alex is bringing his WAM25 Jubilee tour to the Royal Oak Hotel on Thursday 26 November, celebrating the album that became the soundtrack to a generation.

Together with the Launceston Improvised Music Association, we're bringing internationally acclaimed Danish/Australian trio Number J***y to the Oak Shed as part of their national tour celebrating their third album, Composure.

You asked, we listened. By popular demand, we're bringing you more JAZZ at the Oak this Saturday!

For all our jazz-loving regulars who've been asking when we're putting on another proper jazz gig, this one's for you.

Together with the Launceston Improvised Music Association, we're bringing you some of the best in the business: internationally acclaimed Danish/Australian jazz trio Number J***y, touring their brand-new album Composure.

Led by guitarist Kristian Borring, alongside Zac Grafton on double bass and Peter Evans on drums, Number J***y are renowned for their inventive rhythms, unusual time signatures, rich harmonies and extraordinary musical interplay.
