"A Hotel of Uncommon Character"

Begun in 1850, The Royal Oak Hotel has been continually licensed since that time. The Royal Oak Hotel is a 'home away from home' and is one of those rare modern pubs that eschews gaming machines and pay-tv, preferring instead the grand art of conversation and conviviality. The Royal Oak Hotel is a generational place; stories and legends have been made, and continu

e to be made, within its interior. "The Oak", as it is affectionately known, is the reference point for many of Launceston's citizens, past and present.

🎹 KATIE NOONAN AT THE OAK 🎹

Saturday 14 November | 8pm

Five-time ARIA Award winner Katie Noonan is coming to the Royal Oak with Alone but All One, her 30th studio album.

Stripped right back to Katie’s extraordinary voice, piano and string quartet, the new album explores love, grief, uncertainty and reinvention, and includes her first songwriting collaboration with acclaimed Australian writer Trent Dalton.

Recorded live in her lounge room on Gubbi Gubbi Country, Alone but All One is intimate, delicate and made for listening closely.

We’re incredibly excited to welcome Katie to our little corner of Launceston for what promises to be a very special night.

WHAT’S ON AT THE OAK THIS WEEK 🍻

A big four nights at The Oak with local songwriters, a pub full of voices, blues and roots, and SANCTUARY taking over Saturday night.

Wednesday

Abigail // Front Bar
7–9pm • FREE

From behind the bar to the stage. Abigail Fifis is part of Launceston outfit Dirty Motel, and Wendy reckons she’s even better on stage than she is behind the bar, which is saying something because she pours a pretty damn good beer. Catch her solo in the Front Bar for Wednesday night drinks and dinner.

Thursday

Choir in the Pub
7:30–9pm

One of our favourite ways to fill a pub with noise. Travis Hennessy leads the room through an evening of communal singing, no choir experience or polished vocal cords required. Come alone, bring some mates, grab a drink and add your voice to the glorious racket.

Mick Attard // Front Bar
7–9pm • FREE

We’ve also got Mick Attard in the Front Bar on Thursday, bringing another dose of live local music to the evening.

Friday

Alex Cunningham // Front Bar
9–11pm • FREE

Friday night belongs to Alex Cunningham, taking over the Front Bar for two hours of live music from 9pm. Grab dinner beforehand, then migrate barwards and get the weekend properly underway.

Saturday

Chris Okunbur // Front Bar
9–11pm • FREE

Chris brings acoustic blues, folk and roots with a distinctly old-time flavour, moving between guitar, lap slide, dobro and ukulele. Her music draws on the deep traditions of artists including Memphis Minnie, Skip James, Son House and Mississippi Fred McDowell, backed by years of touring and a stack of acclaimed blues releases.

SANCTUARY // Oak Shed
Doors 9pm • Performances from 9:30pm • $15

And behind the Front Bar, SANCTUARY takes over the Oak Shed. Launceston’s bimonthly q***r club night is a safe space to let loose, have a boogie and be entertained by fabulous local q***r performers, with sets throughout the night.

SANCTUARY tickets are ONLINE ONLY. There are no door sales, so make sure you’ve got yours before Saturday night.
