AFTER the theatrical triumph of Rolling Thunder in New York last year, comes ROLLING THUNDER – THE CONCERT, a powerhouse celebration awakening the electrifying pulse of the ‘60s and ‘70s soundtrack that defined a generation.
Showcasing the extraordinary talents of guitarists Brett Garsed and Craig Newman, and drummer/percussionist Angus Burchall – longstanding members of the former Farnham Band - the concert features standout songs from both the acclaimed Australian and US productions, among others. The band will be joined on stage by some of Australia’s finest vocalists including former Farnham legendary vocalist Lindsay Field.
Rock classics include Magic Carpet Ride, For What It’s Worth, Gimme Shelter, Fortunate Son, Black Magic Woman, The Letter, People Get Ready, You Make Me Feel Like (A Natural Woman), Bob Dylan’s magical A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall, We Gotta Get Out of This Place, Killing Me Softly With His Song, What’s Going On? the high-octane Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix and the explosive blues-rock anthem Piece of My Heart, made famous by Janis Joplin.
Announcing the concert today, Producer Rebecca Blake said: “Like Rolling Thunder Vietnam, this brand-new concert will be hugely energetic, passionate and full of show-stopping moments. It’s the perfect vehicle to continue our collaboration with former Farnham Band legends - Brett (Garsed), Angus (Burchall) and Craig (Newman). They are without a doubt three of the most dynamic and accomplished musicians one could ever hope to find anywhere in the world.
“It's exciting to include the pioneering rock songs Gimme Shelter and House of the Rising Sun on the bill, both of which received huge ovations in our US premiere of Rolling Thunder at New World Stages. The setlist has plenty of light and shade, and thrilling moments for all the artists to shine. I expect audiences will love the spirit and soul of Rolling Thunder – The Concert; you won’t want to miss it!
Conceived as a vibrant, engaging and cinematic experience, the concert brings virtuoso performances, stunning visuals and blistering guitar solos to the fore.
Rolling Thunder – The Concert encompasses the musical influence and legacy of many remarkable artists and songwriters including Dylan, Hendrix, John Fogerty, Mick Jagger & Keith Richards, Carole King, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, Patti Smith & Bruce Springsteen, Stephen Stills, Roberta Flack, and Steppenwolf’s John Kay & Rushton Moreve.
