Shedshaker Brewing

Shedshaker Brewing Shedshaker beers are hand-crafted in sunny Castlemaine - a vibrant, creative community in the goldfields of Central Victoria. Come and try for yourself at our Taproom, where we have 12 beers on tap alongside a range of locally made wine and spirits. Try our delicious Italian-based menu featuring sumptuous pastas and our famous pizzas and stay for the live music we have on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. You are always welcome at the Taproom.

In the 1850s Castlemaine was home to over 20,000 diggers seeking to make their fortune on the Central Victorian goldfields, and some 20 breweries helping them wash away the bitter pill of disappointment. By the early 20th century, all the breweries were gone...and so was the gold. In 2014, we thought it was high time to bring beer back to Castlemaine. And we struck gold with the formation of the C

astlemaine Brewing Company. Same people, same passion, same commitment to small batch, hand crafted beer. Castlemaine Brewing Company then become Shedshaker Brewing. At Shedshaker we reckon a good beer is one of life’s great pleasures. We want to bring that excitement and joy to everything we do, especially when it comes to making fresh beers with satisfying and distinctive flavours. Let’s drink to that.

The @94.9mainfm Main Game is on Sunday, and kick-ons (pun fully intended) are at The Taproom.

Kick on after the Main Game with party faves , playing Electro party rock of the finest quality - perfect for celebrating a mighty Galah win (or... a Rockatoo win if it comes to that).

There will also be (You Am I) spinning the vinyl to kick start the arvo.

And of course, it is FREE! So head north from Camp and land at the Tappy for the party kick-ons.

Or just come along - witnessing The Main Game is optional (but you really should see it - footy at its finest).

The game is 12-4pm with lots of extra stuff at Camp Reserve and kick-ons shall start at shortly after.

This is Sam and Andrew, aka our brewers, picking up some whey from our mates at Long Paddock Cheese at The Mill Castlemaine. It was a long whey to go, across the carpark.

Why? Well it has something to do with a stout and the Obsidian Dark Beer Festival.

Stay tuned. We have about a million more whey puns to wheel out. This is the whey... 🍻

Our GM Adam wrote a piece for the Independent Brewers Association on why he decided to work in beer after a long career working in not-beer (everything else), and why.

If that sounds interesting, follow the link and have a read!

So, this is why I love indie beer – the sector is made up of many great people who are the heart and souls of great breweries who at their best are working together, collaborating and innovating.

SATURDAY NIGHT - MONSTRESS!!!

bring their It’s Okay East Coast Touryo for an intimate, emotionally charged night of live music.

Written by bandleader Sarah Homeh, It’s Okay explores isolation, identity and self-love, brought vividly to life through a cinematic, experimental sci-fi music video, a dreamlike q***r love story that blurs music, film and performance. Raw, immersive and deeply human, this is a show for anyone who’s ever needed to be reminded that it’s okay to feel.

Based on Gadigal land, Monstress are a five-piece all-female and non-binary creative collective blending jazz-infused grooves, spoken word and lush harmonies, led by bassist and vocalist Sarah Homeh, with influences ranging from Tank & The Bangas to Doja Cat, Little Simz and Erykah Badu.

So we entered a few of our beers in the Melbourne Royal International Beer Awards... and we won some medals!

Our little beer that could... our tasty Mid-strength XPA won a Gold, which is rather awesome. It came top 5 in its category, and we are very happy with that!

Our Celtic Red and Choc Porter both collected bronze medals as well and remain faves in the Taproom.

Shout outs to our dear mates at Rock & Ranges Brewing Co-operative for collecting 2 silver medals (Festivus and Pacific Ale) and to our Central Vic mates Cornella Brewery and Hepburn Springs Brewing on their success and of course a loud shout out to the lively lads at Love Shack, who snared the best mid-strength beer and two bronzes as well.

Yes, 2 of the best mid-strength beers in this land are made in Castlemaine! Why would anyone drink rubbish commercial mids? Go for taste - and support independent breweries!

Also a shout out to Will at The Crafty Pint who won another media award. He and the CP team are wonderful supporters of us and all the breweries up our way. Nice work legend!
