Melbourne's rising superstars of the alt-country scene, The Smith & Western Jury are hittin' the road to promote their new single Lucky Stars and they are stopping by the Taproom!

Their music is a rock-driven punch laced with a western twinge - familiar yet all their own. Their 2024 debut album Hotel Texas stamped them as a must-see live act, having owned Out on the Weekend, Queenscliff and Tamworth festivals. Their last single, Rolling the Dice was a tasty desert-baked treat inspired by a trip through Joshua Tree.

They are supported by Elise Drake - a new name round these parts. Elise hails from up north, Barapa Barapa country, and her music takes the darker sounds of 90's indie rock and combines them with sweet, harmony-laden pop hooks. You're gonna love her.

And to make it one night to remember, there will also be a DJ playing the best smokin' tunes to keep the party vibe happening! That DJ has a name - they call him Ben Mastwyk... yes, that Ben of the Millions and the Energy, the cosmic cowboy himself! Last time he was down our way, he showered us with in $1M dollar notes.

Definitely the day for a kick on!

One of the best days of the year in Castlemaine.

The 94.9 MainFM Main Game is on TODAY, and kick-ons (pun fully intended) are at The Taproom.

Kick on after the Main Game with party faves OK darling, playing Electro party rock of the finest quality - perfect for celebrating a mighty Galah win (or... a Rockatoo win if it comes to that).

There will also be Tim Rogers(You Am I) spinning the vinyl to kick start the arvo. This portrait of Tim is by our guy Ned Middleton.

And of course, it is FREE! So head north from Camp and land at the Tappy for the party kick-ons.

The game is 12-4pm with lots of extra stuff at Camp Reserve and kick-ons shall start at The Mill Castlemaine shortly after.

Today is a special day - it is the first time we have had all 14 of our beers on tap at the same time since... sometime last year!

It has been a slow and steady rebuild after the January fire and we had some great guest beers on as well (thanks again Hepburn Springs Brewing Co., Moon Dog Craft Brewery, Molly Rose Brewing TWØBAYS Brewing Co Dainton Taphouse Carrum Downs Bells Beach Brewing - you guys rock).

Which is your fave? We can't pick just one of course... that said, in this weather, we are heading for the dark ales more and more. 🍻

We have two local acts going head-to-head to entertain you on a Sunday arvo.

First off the bat is Tom Cushing. Tom brings his guitar and tunes of Aussie rascals, rolling the dice and seeing what life gives them next. Heartfelt confessions meet dirty jokes...

Bringing it home is Dear Dolly. Shobie, Kirby and Jesse won hearts last time they played with their eclectic tunes and lovely harmonies.

Definitely book a table - it will be a busy one at The Mill Castlemaine
