After an easy drive up the coast from Durban, you arrive at Highrocks Beach House in Umkomaas. There is a massive four bed bunk room with a children's playroom.

Rated by Getaway Magazine January 2014 as one of the top ten beach houses in South Africa, Highrocks Beach House really is something special. As you enter you immediately see the vast ocean before you, the lounge is double volume with the 80 year old wooden eaves exposed. Highrocks has four King and Queen sized bedrooms of which three are ensuite and air conditioned. The living area includes an open plan kitchen, lounge which rolls out onto an undercover deck with another 12 seater dining room table and lounge. There is a 6ft deep plunge pool on the edge of the deck to soothe your worries away. The view stretches as far as the eye can see out towards the Aliwal Shoal in the South and all the way back to Umhlanga Rocks. The property is on Â½ an acre and has swings and trampolines for the children. The access to the beach is along a quiet cul de sac of about 100 m and then you are on the Widenham Bay, a pristine fishing bay and bathing beach that has been the best kept secret for years. The garden has been preserved to reflect that of the natural beauty of the South Coast, a narrow tunnel of indigenous bush envelops you as you drive into the property, which then opens up into an open lawn as you approach the house. The house itself blends into the surrounds, just as it may have done over 80 years ago. Highrocks is an upmarket self-catering beach house that sleeps a maximum of eight adults and four children.

Nebo's Cabins & Turtle Cove: Three self-contained en suite studios (sleeps 2 each)
North Sands Cottage: A loft-style unit with king and queen bedrooms (sleeps 4–6)
The Shoal: A 3-bedroom house with 2 shared bathrooms (sleeps 6–8)

This 3 bedroom 2 bathroom self-contained unit has 2 Loft-Styled Queen bedrooms upstairs, one with a wonderful ocean view, the other with a garden and sunset view, both with aircon. The downstairs unit is also a queen. The living room has an incredibly comfy L-shaped lounge set and a TV with the full DSTV bouquet.

The fully serviced kitchen offers everything you need for a comfortable self-catering stay, including a full-size fridge, oven, stove, and microwave. It’s equipped with crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and cooking utensils, along with essentials like a kettle, toaster, and cleaning supplies.
