SOME LOGOS ARE DESIGNED.
OTHERS ARE EARNED.
For almost 31 years, the familiar Lalele crocodile has stood at our gate.
It has welcomed families, tourists, schoolchildren, friends and visitors from across South Africa and around the world.
But behind that logo was something much bigger.
A family.
In 1995, Pine and Jessie Pienaar took a dream into the Waterberg and began building what would become Lalele Crocodile Farm.
They built it the way most family legacies are built.
Not overnight.
Through years of hard work.
Risk.
Sacrifice.
Learning.
Setbacks.
Faith.
And the decision to get up the next morning and carry on.
Then came the next generation.
Their sons grew up with Lalele not simply as a business, but as part of their lives.
Henning joined his parents on the farm in 2000 and spent years working beside his father, learning the animals, the industry and the enormous responsibility that comes with this kind of farming.
That same year, another branch of the Lalele story began.
Croc & Hide.
What started with Henning working with crocodile leather on the farm grew into a proudly South African brand producing handcrafted Nile crocodile products.
And when Pine and Jessie eventually stepped back after decades of building Lalele, they didn't simply leave behind a business.
They placed a legacy into the hands of their sons.
Today, HJ Pienaar and EB Pienaar are the next generation of Lalele.
Two brothers carrying forward what their parents started.
And Henning, after more than two decades inside this industry, is at the helm of moving the farm into its next chapter.
That distinction matters.
Because this new identity is not someone arriving and changing what Lalele was.
It is the same family taking responsibility for what Lalele can become.
The farm has evolved.
Crocodile farming remains at its heart.
Our tourism continues to introduce people from South Africa and abroad to these remarkable animals.
Croc & Hide, born right here at Lalele, now becomes visibly part of the family it came from.
Our premium crocodile skulls travel beyond our borders.
And Lalele has entered another important chapter as a Registered Abattoir with Crocodile Meat Sales.
So eventually the old logo could no longer tell the whole story.
But replacing it was not easy.
How do you change something that has represented your parents' dream since 1995?
You don't erase it.
You honour it.
The old Lalele logo will forever represent where this family began.
The new identity represents where the two sons are taking it.
Look carefully and you will see that the story is still there.
The L is Lalele.
The crocodile remains at the centre of everything we do.
The Croc & Hide eye brings home a brand born from this very farm.
The skull represents our knowledge of and connection to the Nile crocodile.
And ESTABLISHED 1995 remains exactly where it belongs.
Because no matter how far Lalele grows, 1995 will always matter.
This is not new ownership trying to create a new history.
This is the next generation protecting an old one — while having the courage to write the next chapter.
To Pine and Jessie:
What you started lives on.
To HJ and EB:
The responsibility is now yours.
And to Henning, who is driving Lalele forward:
Take it further. Beyond it's wildest dreams.
And to every person who has walked through these gates, supported the farm, bought from Croc & Hide, brought your children here, recommended us to a traveller, worked beside this family or simply followed our journey:
Thank you.
You haven't just watched Lalele grow.
You've helped it grow.
So when you see our new logo appearing over the coming weeks, we hope you don't see a business trying to become something different.
We hope you see what we see:
A father and mother's dream.
Two sons carrying it forward.
And a family farm ready for its next generation.
Same roots.
Same family.
Same values.
A stronger Lalele.
Welcome to the next chapter.
