Texan Wing Bar - Montecasino
Foodies and sports fan’s keep reading. It’s never easy to find a sports bar that has great food. Often you trade one for the other, but Texan Wing Bar didn’t get the memo and that’s got to be great news for people who love good food coupled with sport.
Littered with 75 inch big screen TV’s, overlooking the lights and sounds of the Montecasino gaming floor, you could be forgiven for thinking you are actually somewhere in Texas – there’s a great vibe as you get lost in the music and the sounds of the slots. You hear "everything is bigger in Texas" tossed around a lot. Maybe that’s why the TV’s are so big. The restaurant is classy, not like your usual sports bar, there’s huge attention to detail, the wagon wheels, haybales and Texan Longhorn all add to the vibe. The finishes are what you expect of Montecasino.
The food and cocktails too. The unique cocktail menu is tailored for the ladies, and a firm favourite and must try is the fruity and balanced Wing Woo Hoo. Their maple and molasses glazed pork ribs are the best in the business, and I suggest try it with their sweetcorn grits, something you just don’t find at other places these days. If you want something straight out of the Texas handbook, then the giant-sized prime rib with twice baked potato is for you. As the name suggests though, it’s a wing bar for a reason.
If there’s a wing capital of South Africa, it’s based in Montecasino. The title for “Best wings in South Africa” has a new contender no doubt. I guess “Best Ribs” too! This is a sports bar that sets the bar.
