Bailey’s Live has closed its doors💔
Our last operational day was Saturday, 29 August 2026.
And just like that, after 3343 days, the lights have gone down.
I had hoped that I would have had the opportunity to be the one to make this announcement, but as social media would have it, there is always someone ready to beat you to the punch… looking at you, Nandan.
But the truth is, we made it.
We made it into our tenth year.
And although our hearts are completely broken, there is one thing nobody can ever take away from us…
We never gave up.
Bailey’s Live was never a franchise. There was no big brother behind us. No corporate machine. No endless resources or safety net waiting to catch us when things got difficult.
Bailey’s was our little family business.
A husband. A wife. And their daughter.
Three people who poured their hearts, their lives, their time, their money, their energy and absolutely everything they had into building something they believed in.
There were times when Bailey’s demanded everything from us.
And we gave it everything.
We survived COVID.
We survived water problems, power problems, load shedding, rising costs and challenge after challenge.
We watched newcomers come and go.
We fought through some of the most difficult years imaginable for the hospitality industry.
And for 3343 days, we stood.
We stood because we believed in Bailey’s.
Unfortunately, due to a legal dispute with our landlord, together with what we have felt as an incredibly difficult economic downturn, we have finally reached a place we never thought we would have to face.
The end of the line. We are still going through motions and who knows what the future may bring but at the current standing we are done.
And I cannot begin to explain how heartbreaking that is.
This is not simply the closing of a business.
This is the closing of something we built with our own hands.
Something we sacrificed for.
Something we worried about at night.
Something we celebrated.
Something we fought for when walking away would have been easier.
We can hold our heads high knowing that until the very last day, we fought with everything we had.
We did not quit.
We did not simply walk away.
We fought for Bailey’s Live because Bailey’s was so much more than a venue to us.
It was a home for music.
A place where friendships were made, relationships began, birthdays were celebrated, artists found a stage, bands found an audience, staff became family and strangers became regulars.
It was laughter.
It was chaos.
It was music.
It was late nights, early mornings, celebrations, tears, arguments, hugs and thousands upon thousands of memories.
Bailey’s was alive because of the people who filled it.
To every person who walked through our doors over the last 3343 days…
To every customer who became a regular.
Every artist who performed on our stage.
Every DJ.
Every sound engineer.
Every staff member.
Every supplier.
Every promoter.
Every friend.
Every person who supported this little family business and believed in what we were trying to build…
Thank you.
There will never be enough words to express what your support meant to us.
Yes, our hearts are broken.
We are devastated that this chapter has come to an end.
But alongside that heartbreak is an enormous sense of pride.
Because we made it.
Against everything that came our way…
We stood for 3343 days.
And for ten incredible years, this little family business gave everything it had.
The doors may now be closed.
The lights may have gone down.
But nobody can take away the memories, the friendships, the music and the life that filled those walls.
Bailey’s Live may have reached the end of the line…
But what a journey.
What a fight.
What a family.
What a ride.
