Combining excellent House Music, Beverages and various type of good food, the freshest ingredients, the friendliest service and the best dining experience possible, we offer the best in House Music, Beverages and various type of good food including chesanyama. Chesanyama Zulu slang expression for ‘buy and braai’, has been traditionally practiced in African culture for years. These days, more and more folks are doing what Africans have traditionally done in their free time and it has evolved into a heritage symbol: grilling good old meat, aka chesanyama. Chesanyama, a traditional buy-and-braai concept that started in South Africa’s townships, has taken off among the South African middle class. The offerings added formal bars, music performances and car washes, catering to those who want to while away the afternoon in a convivial environment. As a favourite hangout spot for up-and-coming professionals and South Africa’s emerging middle class, the venue will become ideal for networking sessions where business deals are frequently discussed and brokered. From the outset, the Celes will strive to ensure that the very best service is provided, ensuring that the customer’s needs are met at all times. It all started with the idea of a place which people could regard as a home-away-from-home, be it during working hours or time to have fun in the evening or the weekend. Many would ask why, but that's the whole Idea of bringing back the vibe and creating a place where people not only enjoy good soul food and soul music. De Joint Pub & Grill uniqueness lies in offering value-for-money, top quality food, combined with special blends of spices, ensuring tantalising flavours that appeal to all palates and good music. The creative image, standardisation of products and adherence to cleanliness serve as the franchise’s main competitive advantages. The customer base is comprised mostly of the Black community, but also has great appeal to all cultures. The primary business goal of De Joint Pub & Grill is to be at the forefront of JOB CREATION, which is essential in our communities to assist in our country’s economic growth. In addition, we are determined to build a brand that can compete with the key industry players who are currently dominating the entertainment industry. De Joint Pub & Grill brand will be divided between the Butchery/lounge and fast food franchises. The fast food option serves as a take away franchise and the butchery/lounge provides a sit-down restaurant that is combined with a social event with live music and all the trimmings of an outdoor restaurant.

10-Year Celebration of De Joint Pub & Grill

De Joint Pub & Grill celebrates a decade of existence and cultural impact.

What began in Mafikeng, North West Province, at Mo Meat Chisanyama in 2014 soon evolved into a movement. Sundays became extra special playing HOUSE MUSIC from the early hours of the morning into the early hours of Monday. Upon recognising the deep love and appreciation for music among the people of Tikwana, Hoopstad in the Free State Province, the movement was later introduced there.

The core objective was to introduce and preserve the culture of House music in Tikwana, Hoopstad, with the sole purpose of uniting both the young and the old through good vibes. Most importantly, the movement aimed to create employment opportunities within the community through this culture, while promoting social cohesion and social responsibility at large.

Over the nine years of De Joint Pub & Grill’s operation, countless memories have been created. Friendships were formed, and sadly, some members of our family have passed on. We paid our respects, and they will forever remain in our hearts. Through all challenges, we remained resolute and soldiered on. Like many establishments, we were affected by the COVID-19 era, but through the unwavering support and loyalty of our community, we managed to return and remain operational.

We are deeply grateful to the Motaung Family for their continuous support and encouragement and to our community for standing by us since day one, when we officially opened our doors in September 2016. As we celebrate this milestone, few changes will be introduced at the establishment to set a new tone moving forward—one that allows us to celebrate many more years of bringing different generations together.

We therefore call upon everyone from all corners of the Free State Province, especially those who have been with us from the beginning, to come and celebrate this milestone with us. We promise nothing but good vibes, positive energy, and quality music, delivered by seasoned spinners dedicated to restoring order and reviving the true culture of House music.

As part of the 10-year celebration, we are proud to introduce HOUSE MUSIC SUNDAYS starting from the last Sunday of February 2026 dedicated solely to preserving and honouring the culture.

And the beat goes on, HOUSE MUSIC will remain ✊🏾
