Grotto beach is one of the most striking South African beaches and has Blue Flag status. With a picturesque view of the ocean, the backdrop of Olifantsberg becomes illuminated as the sun sets. There is no doubt that Dutchies is surrounded by the exquisiteness of nature. Owned by Joke Gonggrijp and her son Daan, their desire is to share the many experiences this unique spot has to offer with you. Not only is the view truly breathtaking, but the menu offers a range of dishes from freshly cooked seafood, a touch of Dutch cuisine, tapas, sushi and an extensive cocktail and wine list.

Tomorrow is Thursday and you know what that means - it's our Indonesian Rijsttafel evening! 🇮🇩

Every week until the end of November, we celebrate Indonesian cuisine with recipes inspired by our very own Joké's mother-in-law, who collected them during her upbringing in Indonesia.

Enjoy a full “rice table” spread of Nasi Goreng, Satay 🍢, Gado-Gado 🥜, Rendang 🌶️, Ayam Goreng 🍗, Nasi Padang, Ikan Bakar 🐟 and Sop Buntut 🍲

Our High Tea is a proper afternoon treat, with a spread of cucumber sandwiches, chicken mayo pinwheels, spinach and feta rolls, mini quiche Lorraine and egg salad delight, finished off with scones and confectionaries from La Pâtisserie 🫖

At Dutchies, our Indonesian Rijsttafel evenings honour the handwritten recipes of Carolien Gonggrijp, Joké’s beloved mother-in-law. Born in Indonesia in 1924, Carolien learned the art of Indonesian cooking from her family’s kokkie, filling her cookbook with personal notes along the way. She leaves a legacy we're honoured to share around our tables ✨

Join us every Thursday until the end of November for a feast of Nasi Goreng, Satay, Gado-Gado, Rendang, Ayam Goreng, Nasi Padang, Ikan Bakar and Sop Buntut. Bring your loved ones and share an evening of treasured family flavours 🇮🇩
