Dope Catz Lounge is a 100% youth owned South African development venture. The organization was established out of a burning desire to contribute to the evolution of our academic society and increasingly globally competitive society. Dope Catz Lounge was founded in January 2010, It included performances of poetry, praise poetry, hip hop and attracted many talented participants from Delft, Gugulethu

, Khayelitsha, Langa, Montana, Observatory, Rondebosch and Stellenbosch. The academic, experiential as well as professional background of the founders further spurred the birth of Dope Catz Lounge. The organization is geared to re-energize the development sector through partnerships and intensive methods of production where necessary. In December 2010 the founder recognized the need for local hip hop & Dance artists to develop their skills, but the lack of such a resource to ordinary hip hop catz / artists. Therefore in 2011 Dope Catz Lounge launched a pilot project, the Dope catz lounge, a fortnightly session where hop hop catz meet to perform[freestyle sessions and battle shows], they share ideas, explore what knowledge they already have within, share writings skills, problems and solutions and tips.
