There are too many origin stories of the infamous Bloody Mary to get through in one post, but we wanted to share some interesting facts about this originally dubbed ‘Red Snapper’ cocktail.

While the list of ingredients may make your stomach churn, the mere concoction is genius, and quite tasty if we may add.

In short, in the early 1900s, there were two stories that originated from the United States where two gentlemen claimed to have been the original creators of the drink and its name. However, records dating back to the 1890s indicate that a similar recipe, without the alcohol, already existed in London. It has also been suggested that the popular drink was named after the cruel Queen Mary from the 15th century as a twisted joke at the time, but there are no records to prove or disprove this theory.

Whatever the real story, we are just grateful for this ‘tangy’ cocktail invention coming into our lives.

If giving up alcohol was one of you New Year’s resolutions, or if you are just someone that naturally prefers temperance drinks, here is a recipe just for you.

We introduce to you the 4-ingredient strawberry & lime mojito mocktail from Salt and Baker.

All you need is the following:
Strawberries
Limes
Sprite or ginger ale
Fresh mint leaves

Place the strawberries and mint leaves into a pitcher and mush the ingredients well. Once you have done this, squeeze a ¼ of a lime into the pitcher and then fill with Sprite or ginger ale.

Stir the ingredients well, add some ice, and just like that you’re done and sipping on a delicious mocktail.

This mocktail is everything you need – refreshing, beautiful to look at and tasty. Enjoy.

Sangria is a Spanish wine punch with origins that date back to the 15th century.

The traditional recipe is a simple blend of red wine, brandy and fruit, but the basic concept allows for a lot of creativity when choosing ingredients.

Why not throw a spontaneous dinner club party tonight and celebrate National Sangria Day with good company.

Combine the below ingredients into a jug, refrigerate for three hours and enjoy:

1 x 750ml bottle red wine of choice
2 ounces brandy
2 ounces orange liqueur (triple sec)
4 ounces orange juice; freshly squeezed
2 ounces lemon juice; freshly squeezed
1 x lemon, sliced
1 x small orange, sliced
